Also disclosed is a process for producing the above electrophotographic endless belt.

摘要： In a storage system directly connected to a network, if conventional interfaces and protocols are used when an I/O command issued from a file server is transmitted to the storage system, the command/data is serially transferred via a single transfer path so that the performance is lowered. Conventional interfaces do not provide the means to notify the storage system of the failure at the file server. The file server and a channel adapter of the storage system are mounted on the same board and connection paths therebetween are controlled so that a plurality of protocols can be operated independently. A path independent from a command/data path is provided between the file server and channel adapter, and the received failure information is stored in a shared memory of the storage system and used for the fail-over.

摘要： A clockwise helical groove is formed on the outer periphery surface of a rigid roller toward one end from the center position in the axial direction. A counter-clockwise helical groove is formed on the outer periphery surface of the roller toward the other end from the center position in the axial direction. The roller rotates, accompanied by a magnetic tape. The clockwise groove of the roller gives a regulating force, which points toward the center position, to the magnetic tape. The counter-clockwise groove of the roller gives a second regulating force, which points toward the center position, to the magnetic tape. The magnetic tape is given the regulating forces simultaneously that point toward the center position in the axial direction of the roller. The magnetic tape is restrained from swinging to one end or the other end in the axial direction of the roller, and the tape traveling becomes stable.

摘要： The upper portion of a magnetoresistive film is interposed between insulators in the lateral direction of a recording track in a current-perpendicular-to-the-plane structure magnetoresistive element. Domain control magnetic layers sandwich the upper portion of the magnetoresistive film along with the insulators in the lateral direction. The insulators serve to establish a narrower path for electric current between the lower portion of the magnetoresistive film and an upper electrode layer. The substantial width in the lateral direction can thus be reduced in the magnetoresistive film. In addition, a longitudinal biasing magnetic field established between the domain control magnetic layers efficiently acts on the magnetoresistive film. In particular, if a free magnetic layer is included in the upper portion of the magnetoresistive film, the free magnetic layer can be subjected to a larger longitudinal biasing magnetic field. A single domain property can be realized in the free ferromagnetic layer enough. The Barkhausen noise can be reduced.

An important data in the storage means is transmitted to other devices for evacuation by using a wireless communication means, when a situating condition of a portable information-processing device is judged abnormal (e.g., when being stolen) based on an output of a status detector means. The data in the storage means is deleted, when the transmission is completed or the transmission is interrupted. Protection of the data and the confidentiality are thus achieved even if the portable information-processing device is stolen, since the data can be evacuated, and the data is erased after completion of the data evacuation or if the data evacuation becomes not attainable.
