    摘要: An active matrix type liquid crystal display composed of a liquid crystal cell 124 is described. In the liquid crystal cell 124, liquid crystals at the upper and lower interfaces of a liquid crystal layer 122 inserted between an array substrate 106 having pixel electrodes 128 and an opposed substrate 105 having an opposed electrode 127 have pretilt angles opposite to each other in a positive/negative sense and are aligned in parallel with each other, forming a spray alignment. This liquid crystal display performs displaying by bend-aligning such a liquid crystal cell 124. The pixel electrodes 128 are formed on a flattening film 100 for covering switching elements 123 or wiring electrodes flat. With this arrangement, a spray to bend alignment transition can be reliably, easily caused in a short time within the liquid crystal cell pixels, so that an OCB mode liquid crystal display free from alignment defects and having high picture quality can be achieved.

    摘要: An array antenna system of a wireless base station in CDMA mobile communications has a beam former for forming a plurality of electric beams by applying beam forming to multipath signals received by a plurality of antenna elements of an array antenna and inputting the beams to despreading/delay-adjusting units (fingers) provided for respective path of multipaths. Each finger despreads each of the plurality of beams input thereto. A beam selector selects despread signals for which desired signal components are large from all beams of all paths, a combiner weights and combines the selected despread signals, and an decision unit decides data based upon the combined signal.

    摘要: A picture display method and apparatus in which a light source is lengthened in service life and optimum color reproduction is realized, while the light utilization efficiency is improved to reduce the power consumption and the size of the apparatus. The red, green and blue illuminating light beams radiated from the light-emitting diodes 12R, 12G and 12R, are illuminated via relay lenses and field lenses on picture display light valves 11R, 11G and 11B and spatially modulated in intensity so as to be synthesized by a synthesis prism 10 and so as to be projected to an enlarged scale on a screen 17. The profile of the light radiating portions of the light-emitting diodes 12R, 12G and 12B are set so as to be the same or similar to the profile of a picture display area of each of the picture display light valves 11R, 11G and 11B in order that the profile of the light beam illuminated on the picture display area will be in keeping with the profile of the picture display area.
