    摘要: An internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder block having a plurality of cylinder barrels and a plurality of bearing sections for the journals of a crankshaft; a bearing beam structure and including a plurality of main bearing cap sections each of which associates with each cylinder block bearing section to form a bore for rotatably receiving the crankshaft journal, each bearing cap section being formed with first and second projections which are spaced from each other and located opposite to each other with respect to the axis of the bore, and first and second beam members which are independent from but securely connected to the first and second bearing cap section projections, respectively, by bolts, thereby greatly reducing engine noise emission and improving the productivity of the engine.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine for a vehicle has a first device for generating an ignition signal causing the engine spark plug to fire at a predetermined timing schedule and at retarded timings relative to the predetermined schedule. A second device is provided for detecting all three of (1) a high engine speed condition, (2) a high load operating condition and (3) a condition in which a transmission gear arrangement is in a low speed gear position. The second device produces a signal when all three conditions are satisfied. A third device causes the first device to generate the ignition signal at the retarded timings in response to the signal from the second device, thereby effectively decreasing combustion noise due to a greater combustion pressure rise at low vehicle speeds during high engine speed and load operations.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine is provided with a bore for receiving the journal of a crankshaft which bore is defined by a lower section of a cylinder block and a bearing cap secured to the cylinder block. A cylindrical housing provided at its inner surface with a metal sleeve bearing is disposed in the bore so as to rotatably support the crankshaft journal. Additionally, a cylindrical elastic member is securely disposed between the outer surface of the cylindrical housing and the peripheral surface of the bore, thereby absorbing vibration transmitted through a piston to the crankshaft, which vibration is due to pressure generated in engine cylinders.

    摘要: An engine equipped with an electronically controlled fuel injection system is provided with an EGR control system which accurately regulates the EGR rate in accordance with a vacuum signal produced at a venturi formed in the intake passageway of the engine, under low and medium load engine operating conditions. However, under high speed and high load engine operating conditions, a part of intake air is bypassed through a bypass passage connecting the upstream and downstream sides of the venturi in order to prevent increase of the flow resistance of the intake air.

    摘要: A multiple-cylinder spark-ignition internal combustion engine for an automotive vehicle, in which the ratio of the inactive compounds in the mixture gases produced in each combustion chamber to the fuel component in the combustible mixture inducted into the chamber is maintained within a predetermined range and the spark plug for each engine cylinder is arranged so that the flame travel from the spark plug is reduced to a minimum for promoting the combustion reaction to proceed in the least possible time. Improvements are further made in respect of the exhaust gas recirculation rate, the location and measurements of the spark plug, the configurations and measurements of the engine cylinder and the arrangement of the intake and exhaust ports so as to reduce the concentrations of toxic compounds in the exhaust gases without impairing the performance efficiency of the engine.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine has a cylinder head formed with a cooling liquid passageway and an air space. The cylinder head has a combustion chamber cooled by cooling liquid flowing through the passageway and an exhaust valve and exhaust port passage cooled by cooling air conducted by the air space. An insulating air space surrounds an exhaust port passage extending from the exhaust valve. As a result cooling effect by the cooling air on exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust port passage is reduced.
