摘要: A computer system comprises a storage subsystem, a host computer and a management computer, and stores catalogue information containing correspondence between a first volume for data reading or writing and a second volume for storing a copy of the data stored in the first volume. The management computer requests the storage subsystem to erase the data stored in the first volume upon reception of an erasure request of the data stored in the first volume. The storage subsystem erases the data stored in the first volume. The management computer specifies a second volume for storing the copy of the data stored in the first volume based on the catalogue information. The storage subsystem erases data stored in the specified second volume. Thus, security risks are reduced by erasing data regarding the data when the data stored in the volume is erased.

摘要: The load of managing a storage system is lessened. In a storage system where multiple logical volumes are included in a logical volume group and a copy of the logical volume group is made in a pool area different from the one to which the logical volume group belongs, a management computer adds to the pool area capacity when the capacity of a pool area exceeds a predetermined threshold. When the pool area includes multiple logical volume groups, the management computer requests the storage system to create a pool area for each of the logical volume groups and to create the logical volume groups respectively for the created pool areas. When the pool area includes one logical volume group, the management computer requests the storage system to make the capacity of the pool area coincide with the capacity of a pool area to which the logical volume group is copied.

摘要: Provided is a computer system including a storage subsystem, a host computer, and a management computer for managing the storage subsystem and the host computer. The storage subsystem manages a storage extent by a group unit and creates storage extent configuration information. The management computer stores group management information, obtains the storage extent configuration information, calculates an assigned capacity for each group based on the obtained storage extent configuration information, forecasts a capacity to be assigned in the future for each group based on the calculated assigned capacity, calculates a protection term expired capacity for each group based on the group management information and the storage extent configuration information, and outputs the assigned capacity, the capacity to be assigned in the future, and the protection term expired capacity. Thus, the storage extent of the storage subsystem can easily be managed.

摘要: There is provided a logical volume management method for storage system. When a logical volume is created on a flash memory drive, a management computer allocates logical volume while flash memory chip border of flash memory drive is taken into account. Specifically, a table for managing a correlation between each parity group and the flash memory chip of the flash memory drive is obtained and the logical volume is allocated in such a manner that a flash memory chip is not shared by a plurality of logical volumes. When complete erasing of logical volume data is performed, the management computer specifies a flash memory chip on which complete data erasing is to be performed, and the storage system completely erases data exclusively on the chip of interest with a use of a function of completely erasing data at a time by chip unit of the flash memory chip (chip erasing).
