Abstract:
Disclosed herein are kits for use in adding degradable foam to a tire, methods for preparing a degradable foam-containing tire, tires containing degradable foam, and methods for degrading the degradable foam in tires containing degradable foam. The degradable foam comprises a combination of (i) at least one di- or polyisocyanate, (ii) at least one polysiloxane diol, at least one polysiloxane diamine, or a combination thereof, and (iii) optionally at least one polyol.
Abstract:
A tire insert for vehicle wheel which has an annular element made in one piece of polymer material is provided. The annular element has a base portion suitable for being accommodated in a rim seat of a rim and an enlarged portion having a section larger than the base portion. The enlarged portion is shaped to have shape and size to always be spaced apart from an inner tire side when the tire is inflated to a predetermined standard working pressure. When the tire is deflated, the enlarged portion comes into contact with the tire to support the tire while the vehicle wheel is running. A vehicle wheel having a tire, a rim onto which the tire is mounted, and the tire insert is also provided.
Abstract:
An insert for a pneumatic tire including an annular member adapted to contact at least 10% of an interior surface of the pneumatic tire and provide an outward pressure thereagainst.
Abstract:
A multi-layer or multi-section foam insert replacement for a pneumatic inner tube emulates the effect of air pressure, across a wide range of temperatures and pressures, while maintaining the weight of a conventional air-filled pneumatic tube. Through the use of different density materials and/or the orientation and thickness of such materials, desirable handling properties are achieved. The multi-layer/multi-section foam insert can be produced by steam molding or extrusion of foam materials.
Abstract:
An improvement in run-flat, puncture-proof tire structure, in which the foamed inner tire body is formed of foam structure, which can provide the required softness/hardness for the tire by adjusting the proportion of foam material ingredients, and since the foamed inner tire body can be placed in the tire body hollow portion of the outer tire body, therefore it avoids blowout when a sharp object enters into and punctures the outer tire body, and it reduces the risk factors during motion, and the rim section positioned on the wheel rim body holds the inflatable inner tire body, and the inflatable inner tire body is also pressed up against the foamed inner tire body to absorb the vibration formed on the wheel rim body during motion, and since the problems of repair requirement and sudden blowout are still present after a puncture, it provides safety and stability during motion.
Abstract:
A tire assembly includes a wheel rim, a tire mounted on the rim and a foam insert which only partially fills an annular volume enclosed by the tire and rim. The foam insert displaces air within the annular volume. The insert is not bonded to the tire. The insert maintains its shape and its mass distribution within the tire.
Abstract:
The invention provides an insert for supporting a pneumatic tire which is intended to support substantially the entire internal face of the pneumatic tire and has a radially internal face intended to sit atop a wheel rim that accepts the pneumatic tire, has at least one cavity designed to be inflated by a valve of the wheel which valve is independent of the insert, via inflation gas conveying means opening onto said radially internal face and into said at least one cavity and discharge means for discharging the gas from this cavity, said at least one cavity and these conveying and discharge means being formed in and/or on the insert, the inflatable cavity being formed by an internal volume within the heart of the insert or alternatively by a concave external surface of the insert.
Abstract:
A tire filling material comprises a polyurethane or polyurethane-urea elastomer that is extended with a C1-C4 ester of one or more fatty acids. The fatty acid esters are compatible with the elastomer and with the reactive materials that are used to make the elastomer. The tire filling material is soft and has physical properties that are suitable for tire filling applications.
Abstract:
The present application discloses a tire and wheel combination for a vehicle comprising a wheel comprising a rim; a tire comprising an annular side wall, an interior surface, wherein the tire is mounted on the rim; and a foam support insert comprising a compressible annular main body, wherein the annular main body comprises a central bore configured to received the wheel rim, and having an outer diameter that is greater than the inner diameter of the interior surface of the tire and being compressed and mounted inside the air cavity of the tire and circumferentially secured to the interior surface of the tire, wherein the foam support insert further comprises a first foam insert having a different foam density than the annular main body, and the foam insert is coupled to the main body and configured with regular or irregular geometric design; wherein the tire and wheel combination is not air tight sealed and filled with pressurized air, and vehicle comprising such combination.
