    摘要: An aqueous solution containing palladium is contacted with a solution of a heterocyclic ring compound having at least one ring substituent of the type --COX, which is, or contains, a hydrocarbyl group having at least 5 carbon atoms. The heterocyclic ring compound may be a pyridine mono-, di- or tri-carboxylic acid ester, for example the bis-isodecyl ester of pyridine- 3,5-dicarboxylic acid. Other heterocyclic ring compounds include those having a pyrimidine, pyrazine, pyridazine, 1,2,4-triazole or imidazole ring. Palladium is extracted into the water-immiscible solution while other metals, particularly platinum group metals, remain in the aqueous solution. The palladium can be stripped from the water-immiscible solution for example using a dilute aqueous solution of ammonia.

    摘要: The present invention involves the isolation or leaching of noble metals from materials containing noble metals, e.g. ores, by treating the noble metal- containing materials with a cyclic thiourea derivative under acid pH conditions. Removal is effected by adsorption onto charcoal or by an ion exchanger, for example. Preferred cyclic thioureas are N,N'-ethylenethiourea and N,N'-propylenethiourea and the acid pH conditions may be achieved by sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid solutions containing 0.01 to 2.0% by weight of the cyclic thiourea.

    摘要: A process for sequentially and selectively separating gold and platinum group metals from aqueous solutions containing them is disclosed.First, ruthenium and osmium are oxidized to their tetroxides and then removed from the solution. Then, gold is removed by solvent extraction preferably with dibutyl carbitol. Next, palladium and platinum are removed by solvent extraction with an alkyl sulphide and tributyl phosphate respectively, care being taken to reduce iridium in solution before platinum extraction to prevent it extracting with the platinum. Then the iridium is reoxidized and removed from solution. Finally, rhodium is removed from the solution.Using this process gold, platinum and palladium of saleable purity can be extracted directly without the need for further refining steps.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a process for the separation and recovery of Rhodium values from aqueous mineral acid solutions also containing Iridium and/or Ruthenium which comprises contacting the metal bearing aqueous solution with a water immiscible organic solvent containing an organically substituted quaternary amine salt to extract Iridium and Ruthenium into the solvent phase leaving Rhodium in the aqueous raffinate. The loaded organic phase is stripped of Iridium and Ruthenium in two sequential steps by contacting it first with an alkaline solution then redissolving the resulting precipitate in an acidified reducing solution.

    摘要: A method of separating gold from palladium or at least one of gold and palladium from solutions containing the chloride complexes of at least the relevant ones of these metals together with other platinum group metals and wherein base metals may be present in the solution said method comprising contacting the solution for a sufficient length of time to result in extracting of substantially all the required gold and for palladium values present therein, with a suitable quantity of a water insoluble non-volatile solvent extractant in an organic phase and having functional groups of the formula R.sup.1 --S--R wherein R.sup.1 and R may be the same or different and have a carbon atom thereof joined directly to the sulphur atom; R.sup.1 and R being chosen so that neither of them have active functional groups capable of acting as ion exchangers or complexing groups and thereafter separating the two phases and recovering the extracted gold and palladium.
