    摘要: In accordance with the invention, an improved process is provided for the efficient removal and recovery of silver from an impure solution containing silver ions which comprises contacting the silver-containing solution with an activated alumina adsorbent to selectively adsorb the silver ions from the solution and the lower the subsequent effluent discharge to less than 1 ppm silver, treating the activated alumina with a regeneration fluid to recover the silver ions from the adsorbent, and reducing the recovered silver ions to metallic silver.

    摘要: The invention provides a method of recovering transition or noble metal values, particularly gold and silver values, from a support having absorbed thereon the metal values in the form of an ionic complex, particularly a cyanide ionic complex, by desorbing the metal values with water of low cation concentration such as deionized or softened water. When the cation of the complex is an alkaline earth metal cation then the support is preferably subjected to a pre-treatment with an alkali metal salt solution to effect an exchange reaction before the desorption step.

SOLVATION OF THE NOBLE METAL OCCURS DURING AGITATION AND HEATING OF THE SLURRY. THE NOBLE METAL CONTANTS ARE REMOVED FROM THE NOBLE METAL PREGNANT SOLUTION BY DISPLACEMENT ONTO A NON-NOBLE METAL SURFACE. THE SOLID NOBLE METAL CONTAINING RESIDUE IS TREATED WITH SUFFICIENT AQUEOUS HYDROXIDE SOLUTION TO CONVERT EXCESS NON-NOBLE METAL INTO ITS WATER-SOLUBLE SALT. THE REMAINING INSOLUBLE MATERIAL CONTAINING THE NOBLE METAL RECOVERED IS RINSED TO REMOVE ANY REMAINING UNREACTED ALKALI AND THE SOLUBLE SALTS AND IS THEN DIGESTED WITH CONCENTRATED SULFURIC ACID TO DISSOLVE ANY REMAINING ACID SOLUBLE IMPURITIES, THE REMAINING ACID INSOLUBLE RESIDUE IS RINSED, DRIED AND COMPRISES SUBSTANTIALLY PURE NOBLE METAL.
