摘要： The present invention simplifies the equipment in an on-machine coater in which a size press and a post-metering style of coater are alternatively used. In an on-machine coater including a size press 3, an air turn 4 arranged diagonally downward on the downstream side of the size press 3, a post-metering style of coater 6 arranged in the downstream side of the air turn 4, and non-contact dryers 11 arranged above the coater 6, when the coating is performed using the size press 3 the two surfaces of a web A are dried by a pair of the non-contact dryers 11 opposingly provided about the diagonally upward-moving web A on the downstream side of the air turn 4. When the coating is performed using the post-metering style of coater 6, the dryer of the pair of non-contact dryers 11 used to dry the lower surface side of the web A is moved in such a way as to oppose the lower surface side of the web A which, beyond the coater 6, moves upward.

The first element is associated with the application chamber on an output side of the application chamber in a direction of movement of the moving substrate. The second element is associated with an input side of the application chamber. The at least one limiting element is associated with a lateral end of the application chamber. The at least one limiting element adjusting a width of application of the medium on the moving substrate. The at least one limiting element having a flexible sealing plate that substantially seals a space between the moving substrate, the first element and the second element. The sealing plate includes a fitted wearing body that is directed toward the moving substrate, with the wearing body being proximate to the first element and the second element.

摘要： A device for applying a liquid to pasty medium to a moving surface, the moving surface in the case of direct application being the surface of a paper, board or other fibrous web. In the case of indirect application the moving surface being the surface of a transfer element which transfers the application medium to the surface of the fibrous web. The device includes an applicator for applying the medium and a doctor device arranged downstream in the running direction of the moving surface for doctoring off and/or equalizing the medium applied to the moving surface. In order to collect excess medium that has not remained on the moving surface and/or has not reached the latter, a flexible collecting part covering the interspace between applicator and doctor device is provided, which extends transversely with respect to the running direction of the moving surface and parallel to the applicator and the doctor device.

摘要： An fountain applicator for applying coating liquid onto a web of paper carried past the applicator, has a coating liquid flow path that includes a curved surface along which a sheet of the coating liquid is flowed to subject the sheet to centrifugal force to cause air entrained in the coating liquid to move away from one side of the sheet that is toward the curved surface, so that the one side is relatively free of entrained air. After being flowed along the curved surface, the sheet of coating liquid is directed toward the web in a free standing jet curtain of coating liquid, to contact the web surface primarily with the one relatively air-free side of the coating liquid sheet to decrease the occurrence of skip coating on the web surface, especially when the web is traveling past the applicator at high speeds. The coating is applied in excess onto the web surface and is metered and leveled to a desired coat weight by a downstream doctor. The downstream doctor may comprise a single metering device, or it may comprise an intermediate metering device followed by a final metering and leveling device.

摘要： A coating machine serves to directly or indirectly apply a liquid or viscous coating medium onto a moving surface. A coater imbedded in a coater bed, defines in part the metering slot. A limiting surface at the moving surface inlet of the coater bed forms, together with the moving surface, an accumulator chamber, with the opening facing in the opposite direction with respect to the feed direction. The accumulator chamber gradually reduces its volume, and the coating medium, delivered to the accumulator chamber by the moving surface, accumulates in the area ahead of the metering slot. It further includes pneumatic pressure device to alter the relative position of the limiting surface with respect to the moving surface and thus alter the geometry of the accumulator chamber.

The leveling element is mounted rigidly in cross direction to the material web, that is, in a direction substantially orthogonal and in a local material web progression to the direction of travel of the material web.
