摘要: An admixture of waste (oil-well) drill cuttings, drilling fluid and by-products of rotary drilling are separated into good-quality water and high-density solids by chemical and mechanical means in original earthen-mud storage and/or reserve pits. The treatment produces two useful benefits: (1) good-quality water (useful for agriculture or for drilling a new well) is recovered, and (2) resulting concentrated solids are of such a high density that the land area occupied by and containing such dewatered solids can be immediately leveled and restored to the same use it had before the well was drilled. The effect is a reduction in energy of at least 75 to 85 percent over the present method of hauling whole mud off by trucks to a commercial waste-disposal site. When environmental considerations do not require restoration of the site and reserve pits are allowed to weather to a point of collapse, this process reduces or eliminates surface pollution of nearby creaks, rivers and ponds by preventing release of drilling-fluid chemicals. It also effects a net reduction in energy by breaking the pollution chain. Moreover, less equipment and chemicals are required at any point in the cycle.

摘要: Apparatus for treating well drilling cuttings that normally accrue from the boring of a subterranean oil or gas well which process includes circulating a drilling mud. The cuttings are introduced to a preliminary separator for removing a major part of the drilling mud. Thereafter, while yet containing a minor portion of mud, the cuttings are passed to a washer for contact with a cleaning detergent. A detergent recycling system simultaneously separates detergent from the residue of drilling mud, for reuse in the cutting cleaning process.

摘要: Apparatus for treating contaminated drill cuttings at an offshore location whereby the cutting can be returned to the water without polluting same. The cuttings pass from the shale shaker into a wash unit where they are sprayed with a wash solution. The spent wash solution and the dislodged contaminants are removed from said unit by a pump while the washed cuttings fall from the lower end of said unit back into the water.

摘要: An apparatus for separating particles, such as drill cuttings, from a flowable substance, such as drilling mud, is provided. The apparatus comprises an inlet for entry of particles combined with the flowable substance; an outlet for exit of particles separated from the flowable substance; a movable screen located between the inlet and the outlet; and a wash unit for delivering a wash agent to the particles. The screen allows for passage of the flowable substance therethrough, and defines a path for passage of the particles between the inlet and the outlet. Delivery of the wash agent to the particles assists with separation of the particles from the flowable substance. Associated systems and methods are also provided.
