摘要: An offset litho or other surface printing press has a printing image carrier with image areas defined by water repelling and water-wettable properties. In order to make possible a reconfiguration of the image directly in the press the printing image carrier is in the form of an electrically conducting substrate, as for example nickel, M which is coated with a polymer to define such areas. The deposition of the polymer is controlled electrochemically with the plate cylinder acting as one electrode and the opposite electrode being in the form of a roller able to rotate in an electrolyte container. One of the two electrodes is in the form of matrix and is activated in a manner in conformity with a pattern of halftone dots corresponding to the desired image. Dependent on whether the polymer is hydrophobic or hydrophilic, the ink accepting areas or either the coated or non-coated parts of the substrate.

摘要: An improved printing member for use in a system wherein a current source, in combination with a resistive ribbon, produces heating in selected areas of the ribbon for effecting the formation of a printing pattern on the printing member, which member is composed of a first layer, having a predetermined melting temperature, and a heat-conducting layer which adheres to the first layer below its predetermined melting temperature and which adheres to said resistive ribbon at temperatures above said predetermined melting temperature, such that, when the second layer is heated to a temperature level above the predetermined melting temperature in selected areas forming a pattern to be printed, the selected areas will adhere to the resistive ribbon and release from the first layer. Consequently, when the resistive ribbon is in contact with the heat-conductive layer while at a temperature level above the predetermined melting temperature of the first layer and is then drawn away from the heat-conductive layer, the selected areas will be removed from the heat-conductive layer forming the pattern to be printed therein.

摘要: A printing system incorporating a re-usable ink image transfer surface. A material which forms a thin hydrophobic layer is arranged by various techniques over a substantially hydrophilic transfer surface in a configuration which defines the desired latent image in terms of exposed, contiguous hydrophilic and hydrophobic areas. In some cases, a hydrophilic layer may be in direct contact with the hydrophobic layer. Depending upon the configuration of the layers, either an aqueous or oleo ink may be used to develop and print an image. If desired, the layer configuration may be replaced by a different configuration without substantial interruption to the printing process. No photo-induced chemical reaction or latent image developing steps are required at any time. The ink image transfer surface may be a planographic printing screen or a printing screen.

摘要: A method for producing a plate or sheet useful in planographic printing which comprises providing a substrate of an oleophilic resin having in the molecules thereof carbon-carbon double bonds and/or carbon atoms bonded with a single hydrogen atom in a total amount of not less than 0.05 mol/kg, contacting the substrate with a hydrophilic radical polymerizable compound and exposing the substrate contacted with the compound to actinic way to form a plate having a hydrophilic thin layer chemically combined with the substrate. The substrate may be mixed with conductive or semiconductive powder uniformly dispersed in the oleophilic resin so as to have a volume resistivity in the range of from 10.sup.-3 to 10.sup.8 ohm.cm. In doing so, an electrical printing plate making method which is very advantageous in easiness and usefulness is applicable to the plate or sheet for planographic printing according to the invention.

摘要: A surface in relief is formed by scanning coherent radiation over a surface defined by a thin film supported upon a plastic substrate. The wave length of the coherent radiation is chosen so that it is absorbed by the film and hence removes portions of the film exposing the substrate. The coherent radiation for removing the film may be switched on and off or otherwise modified so as to write information on the surface. Thereafter, the surface is again scanned by coherent radiation of a wave length that is reflected by the film but absorbed by the plastic substrate thereby removing portions of the plastic exposed by the coherent radiation. The film may or may not then be completely removed leaving a pattern in relief upon the surface of the substrate.

摘要: An ink image is formed on the side of a gauze of a screen master by discharging ink by an ink discharge apparatus, and collected visible rays or infrared rays are irradiated onto the ink image to heat the ink. Then, a thermoplastic resin film is perforated to form a plate making image corresponding to the ink image. The minute ink drops discharged from the ink discharge apparatus are held inside minute opening portions (pixels) of fibers configuring the gauze, and are put on the thermoplastic synthetic resin film bent by gravity. Thermosensitive perforation is carried out in this state, and thus a high-definition plate making image corresponding to the image configured using the ink drops in units of pixels can be obtained.
