摘要: An electrothermal recorder comprising a thermosensitive recording surface which moves at a preselected, controlled, rate along a time axis, an electrothermal print head having an array of separately activated electrothermal printing elements engaging said thermosensitive recording surface along a recording axis generally perpendicular to said time axis and a controller which generates command signals to said printhead for selectively activating the electrothermal elements of said printhead, in accordance with an input responsive to the magnitude of a preselected parameter, such that the location of activated ones of said electrothermal elements, along the recording axis, corresponds to said input.

摘要: A hybrid imaging system is capable of using both ink jet technology and thermal dye transfer technology for producing images on a dye-receiving element of the type having a support and a polymeric dye image-receiving layer that contains an organic acid capable of reprotonating the deprotonated cationic dye from both ink jet ink and dye-donor ribbon. The imaging system includes a print path adapted to accept such a dye-receiving element, and a dye-receiving element transport mechanism adapted to advance a dye-receiving element along the print path. An ink jet imaging assemblage is located along the print path for selectively producing images on the dye-receiving element using ink jet inks having a dye dispersed in an aqueous ink, the dye being a deprotonated cationic dye which is capable of being reprotonated to a cationic dye having an N-H group which is part of a conjugated system. A thermal dye transfer imaging assemblage is located along the print path for selectively producing images on the dye-receiving element using thermal dye transfer technology and a dye-donor element.

摘要: A cooling article includes a plate positioned adjacent the exit of a thermal processor. The plate has a surface for receiving a sheet of thermally-processed material such that the sheet of thermally-processed material moves along the surface. A first region of the surface of the plate adjacent the exit of the thermal processor includes a thermally insulative material, whereas a second region of the surface of the plate on a side of the first region opposite the exit of the thermal processor includes a thermally conductive material. The sheet of thermally-processed material contacts the thermally insulative material during movement in the first region, and contacts the thermally conductive material during movement in the second region. The thermally insulative material prevents excessive heating of the first region of the cooling plate by leading portions of the sheet of thermally-processed material. The thermally insulative material thereby reduces defects in the trailing portion of the sheet of thermally-processed material due to uneven cooling. The reduction of defects contributes to improved quality in the images produced on sheets of thermally-processed material.

摘要: The present invention provides a tape printing device for printing a desirable series of characters on a tape and cutting the tape to a label of a desirable length, and also a tape cartridge used in the tape printing device. The tape cartridge has a characteristic element readably storing specific information on the tape such as a width of the tape. The tape printing device reads the characteristic element to control printing conditions according to the type of the tape cartridge. More specifically, the tape printing device determines a variety of parameters including a number of lines and character sizes of the character series printed on the tape as well as lengths of left and right margins. When a tape of a relatively large width is set in the tape cartridge, the device increases a rotation torque of a platen for feeding the tape. When a tape of a relatively small width is set in the tape cartridge, on the contrary, the device drives only specific dot elements in a range of the tape width out of all dot elements arranged on a printing head. The characteristic element of the tape cartridge stores the specific information expressed as depths of a plurality of holes or electric data. This specific information may be updated to identify a user or detect a residual amount of the tape.
