摘要: The invention relates to a process for melting glass forming ingredients in a glass melting furnace adapted therefore, said furnace having an upstream melting zone and a downstream fining zone, wherein the glass forming ingredients introduced to the upstream melting zone via inlet means and the resulting melt therefrom travel along a path from the melting zone to the fining zone, said melt being withdrawn from outlet means which communicate with the fining zone, the improvement comprising; providing at least one high momentum oxygen-fired flame in the vicinity of said outlet means to sweep unmelted glass forming ingredients floating on the surface of the melt in said vicinity to prevent said unmelted glass forming ingredients from entering the outlet means whereby the contamination of an outflowing molten glass from said outlet means is avoided or reduced.

摘要: A method for manufacturing glass wherein raw material is fed as a batch to a continuous glass-melting tank furnace, melted in a melting tank and passed to a refining tank via a submerged throat. The melt is heated in the refining tank to de-gas it, and then molten refined glass is delivered to a conditioning tank where it is brought to a desired working temperature. The refining tank is divided into upstream and downstream refining cells by a transverse sill. The melt in the upstream refining cell is heated to create a spring zone located towards the downstream end of that cell and a circulation of melt in that cell which feeds the spring zone.

摘要: The operation of mineral wool cupolas is improved in several respects and a waste material is efficiently disposed of by using spent pot lining from electrolytic aluminum reduction vessels in the mineral wool cupolas as a partial or complete replacement for coke. The spent pot lining is impregnated with a cryolytic type slag material which aids in both reducing the reactivity of an already unreactive graphitic material such that it burns low in the cupola with desirable thermal results and also prevents the formation of siliceous build-up in the cupola hearth areas. Several variations of cryolytic impregnated carbonaceous materials having the desirable effect of the invention are possible and described.

摘要: A glass melting furnace includes a furnace body including for storing molten glass, an upstanding tank including a bottom member lying flush with the bottom wall of the furnace body and a rear wall remote from the furnace body, the upstanding tank communicating with the furnace body, a feeder disposed upwardly of the rear wall of the upstanding tank and communicating with the upstanding tank, and a drainage mechanism disposed in a corner defined between the rear wall and bottom member of the upstanding tank for draining out heterogeneous molten glass. The upstanding tank has a width smaller than the width of the furnace body. The drainage mechanism comprises a through hole having an inlet opening into the upstanding tank and an outlet opening at a rear surface of the rear wall, the through hole being tapered from the inlet toward the outlet.

摘要: A process for the production of glass comprises introducing cullet or frit into a glass furnace and melting it therein to form a flux, and guiding the flux along a track, which may be slightly inclined. Preheated raw material components are applied to the surface of the flux substantially in the proportion of one part of flux to between one part to nine parts of raw material components on or in the flux so as to form a glass melt. The glass melt is then refined by introducing refining materials.
