摘要: An assembly for pushing an electrode into a glass melting vessel can include a frame, a shaft, a pusher actuator, a contact mechanism, a master actuator, and a torque limiter. The contact mechanism can be attached to the shaft. The pusher actuator can be mounted to the frame and configured to cause translation of the shaft and the contact mechanism relative to the frame. The master actuator can be operatively connected to the pusher actuator such that operation of the master actuator causes operation of the pusher actuator. The torque limiter can be operatively connected between the master actuator and the pusher actuator, and can be configured to disengage when a rotational force on the master actuator exceeds a predetermined amount.

摘要: A glass melt delivery system vessel has at least one sidewall and floor made of a refractory material, such as zirconia, and at least one electrode extending through the refractory material. The at least one electrode is configured to heat a glass melt in contact with the refractory material at an average temperature of at least about 1600 C° without exceeding a breakdown condition of the refractory material in contact with the glass melt.

摘要: An electrode comprises a shaft extending from an electrode head. A cooling passage extends from an open end disposed at an attachment end of the shaft to a closed end, which is disposed within the electrode head. The electrode head is formed to have approximately a teardrop shape, which may be formed according to a radial profile rotated about a centerline of the shaft, where the radial profile has a center disposed within the electrode head and on the centerline. The radial profile may exhibit a single maximum within a middle portion of the radial profile. Alternatively, or in addition, the middle portion of the radial profile may be negatively curved.

摘要: An all-electric glass-melting deep furnace and a method of refining and supplying glass are disclosed in which high-quality molten glass is efficiently produced in large quantity at high heat efficiency. The glass-melting deep furnace 20 has a bottom 2 and a side wall 4 constructed by piling up fireproof bricks 3 on the perimeter of the bottom 2. A height H of the side wall 4 is set to be twice or more than twice as long as an inside dimension D of the bottom 2 of the furnace. Since the furnace 20 is deep, there can be achieved a thick batch layer, a space in which glass is melted at high temperature, and a cooling area which is necessary to refine molten glass. The furnace makes it possible for the molten glass 6 to absorb fine seeds by its pressure and cooling effects that are produced when the seeds move downward to the bottom 2.

摘要: An electric furnace (1) for melting vitrifiable materials (V), in particular for the manufacture of vitreous mosaic materials and ceramic frits as well as for the vitrification of waste, where the primary material is frequently changed, comprises a melting tank (2) for containing a molten bath (3) with a head (B), having a floor (4) and side walls (5), channels (6) for discharging the molten materials, a crown (13) which is situated above the floor (4), means for introducing a primary batch of vitrfiable materials (V) into the tank (2) and for depositing a covering layer (C) on the molten bath (3), and a plurality of electrodes (9) with a predetermined shape and position, situated inside the tank (2) for melting completely the vitrifiable materials (V) by means of diffused electric currents. The electrodes (9) substantially rest on the floor (4) so as to reduce to a minimum the head (B) of the molten bath (3), with a consequent reduction in the time required to change the primary batch and the power consumption.
