摘要: A stabilizer bar or stabilizer link in fiber composite construction is of a monolithic construction without fiber interruption. The cross section geometry, the wall thickness, and the fiber orientation vary in axial direction and radial direction such that the requirements defined by the available construction space and the expected loads are fulfilled. The fiber orientation is adjusted axially and radially load-appropriately. The middle section of the stabilizer bar that is primarily torsion-loaded is reinforced with fibers oriented between +/−35° and +/−55° relative to the longitudinal axis and the end members that are primarily bending-loaded are reinforced with fibers oriented between +/−20° and +/−40° relative to the longitudinal axis. In the transitional areas between the middle section and the end members there are transitions between these fiber orientations relatively to the longitudinal axis.

摘要: A composite material is provided that includes a matrix material, and a plurality of deflectable elements or “machines” disposed in the matrix material, the machines acting to modify one or more physical properties of the composite material in response to forces acting upon the composite material. Preferably, the machines have an elongate shape defining a longitudinal axis, which are disposed within the matrix material in a predetermined array. The elongate members have an asymmetrical cross-section which is deflectable between first and second shapes, and consequently the composite material exhibits different physical properties because the elongate members deflect between the first and second shapes. The machines may include a variety of asymmetrical cross-sections, such as a generally “Z” shape, an hourglass shape, a cantilever shape or a leaf spring shape.

摘要: Provided is a composite spring assembly configured to provide non-linear stiffness in response to a load. The spring assembly comprises a body portion and a reinforcing element. The body portion defines a longitudinal axis along which the load may be placed. The reinforcing element is embedded in the body portion and is oriented in general disalignment with the longitudinal axis such that deformation of the body portion under the load causes the reinforcing element to move toward alignment with the load direction. The spring assembly may be provided as a prosthetic spine disc wherein the body portion is cylindrically shaped and has an outer wall and planar opposed body end faces. The reinforcing elements are cylindrically shaped and coaxially disposed relative to one another and to the outer wall. The spring assembly may be configured as an elongate tension band with the reinforcing element being configured as a continuous loop of material arranged in a double bowtie configuration.

摘要: A helical spring is formed by winding a fiber bundle onto a core at a predetermined wind angle and then winding the wound core onto a grooved mold. The fibers have a thermosetting material thereon which is cured as the wound core advances along the groove by heating of the mold, the mold rotated to achieve this advance. A frictional engagement at the delivery end is set up between the wound core and the groove to pull and stretch the wound core and to thereby optimally orient the fibers before setting.

摘要: A vibration damping composition is provided which is made from a combination of a resin capable of being molded into a desired shape, an aggregate capable of reducing the amount of resin needed in a given volume, a structural fiber capable of increasing the strength of the composition and increasing the acoustical characteristics of the composition, and a filler material which reduces the amount of resin needed in a given volume. The resin binds the aggregate, the structural fiber and the filler material into a moldable material that, upon hardening, serves to damp vibrations.
