Abstract: A WS12-releasing contact lens is described as well as method of manufacturing the same. The WS12-releasing contact lens comprises a polymeric lens body and WS12 releasably adhered to the polymeric lens body, and releases from 0.05 μg to 0.5 μg WS12 after 1 hour in a release media or when worn by a human subject. The WS12-releasing contact lens can be comfortably worn by a symptomatic contact lens wearer and can increase the duration of comfortable lens wearing time and/or reduce lens awareness events and/or reduce contact lens dryness in a symptomatic contact lens wearer.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for producing a resin molded article through which air bubbles are not easily formed during imprint molding when a curable composition is applied to a mold having a pattern shaped section. The method for producing a resin molded article is a method for producing a resin molded article through imprint molding, the method including: a specific curable composition application process such as the curable composition application process (1) below, in which a curable composition having a contact angle of 50° or less on a mold having a pattern shaped section is applied to a portion of the mold uncoated with the curable composition; and a curing process in which the curable composition applied to the mold is cured to obtain a resin molded article; (1) a curable composition application process including a microparticle application step in which the curable composition is applied such that a particle size of microparticles of the curable composition when adhering to the mold is 0.5 mm or less.

Abstract: As described above, one or more aspects of the present disclosure provide articles having structural color, and methods of making articles having structural color. The present disclosure provides for articles that exhibit structural colors through the use of an optical element, where structural colors are visible colors produced, at least in part, through optical effects. The optical element (e.g., a single layer reflector, a single layer filter, a multilayer reflector or a multilayer filter) can include the reflective layer(s), constituent layers, and an optional textured surface. The optical element has a minimum percent reflectance in a wavelength range within the wavelength range of about 380 to 625 nanometers. The optical element imparts a structural color that corresponds substantially to the range of wavelength range.

Abstract: A liquid lens including a first liquid comprising a polyfluoroaromatic compound represented by formula (I): Fx—(aromatic)—Y—R1. “x” is within a range of from 2 to 5. Y is one of CH2, Si(Alk)2, Ge(Alk)2, O, and S. “Alk” is a linear aliphatic chain. R1 is any organic group, but can be one of a linear aliphatic chain, a cycloaliphatic, a fluorocycloaliphatic, and an aromatic residue. “Aromatic” is any six carbon aromatic ring. Examples of the chemical compound represented by formula (I) include butylpentafluorobenzene; dimethylnonafluorohexylpentafluorophenylsilane; trimethylpentafluorophenylgennane; butoxypentafluorobenzene; cyclopentoxypentafluorobenzene; 1-n-octyloxypentafluorobenzene; cyclooctyloxypentafluorobenzene; 1-n-dodecyloxypentafluorobenzene; cyclopentylpentafluorophenylsulfide; phenoxypentafluorobenzene; 2,4-difluoroanisole; and heptafluoropentyloxypentafluorobenzene. The first liquid has a density in a range of from 0.95 g/mL to 1.35 g/mL (at 20° C.). The liquid lens further includes a second liquid that forms an interface with the first liquid. The second liquid can be substantially free of water.

Abstract: An optical construction includes a reflective polarizer and an optical film. The optical film includes a matrix and a plurality of first particles dispersed in the matrix. Each of the matrix and the plurality of first particles includes a silicone polyoxamide and an acrylate polymer. For substantially normally incident light and for at least a first wavelength in a first wavelength range, the reflective polarizer reflects about 60% for a first polarization state and transmits about 40% for an orthogonal second polarization state. For at least a second wavelength in a second wavelength range, each of the reflective polarizer and the optical film transmits about 60% of an incident light for each of the first and second polarization states. For at least the first wavelength, optical film has an optical haze and a depolarization ratio. A ratio of the depolarization ratio to the optical haze is less than 0.1.
