Abstract: A medical device is provided that can be held and operated with a single hand to cause a catheter to be placed at a selected location in a patient's body. The user's other hand is free to perform other tasks, such as operating an ultrasound probe, for example. The medical device may also include a valve that can be operated with the same hand that holds the medical device to open a port to cause a fluid, such as a nerve block agent, for example, to be injected into the patient's body at the selected location.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a method includes receiving data about a patient, computing geometric characterization of one or more organs at risk proximate to a target volume of a patient or vice versa, and selecting relevant treatment knowledge and experience. The method also includes generating, based on the received data, computed geometric characterization, and available knowledge and experience, a first set of radiation treatment planning parameters that will lead to a high quality plan for the patient. Further, the method includes model-based prediction, based on the data, a second set or more of radiation treatment planning parameters that will lead to alternative achievable plans with different organ sparing objectives for treating the patient. The multiple sets for parameters can be used separately or in conjunction to generate treatment plans.

Abstract: Ophthalmic endoscopes are provided that overcome deficiencies associated with current approaches to implanting ophthalmic stents and shunts for treatment of glaucoma. In various aspects, ophthalmic endoscopes are provided having an elongated body, an instrument port, a micro fiber-optic camera, and in some aspects an irrigation port, wherein the irrigation port extends at least the length of the elongated body from the proximal end to the distal end. The use of the fiber-optic camera and the angle of the irrigation port can allow the device to be operated with a single hand and to overcome the difficult positioning associated with conventional implantation procedures. Ophthalmic endoscopy systems are also provided including the endoscope and a video processor. Methods of implanting an ophthalmic implant using the ophthalmic endoscopes and endoscopy systems are also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for reducing blood pressure variability in a patient. The system includes an endovascular catheter having an expandable element and one or more blood pressure sensors, and a computer/processing unit configured to receive blood pressure measurements and determine a blood pressure variability metric. Upon determining that the blood pressure variability metric exceeds a given blood pressure variability threshold or falls outside a predefined range, the computer/processing unit directs a catheter controller to adjust the size of the expandable element of the catheter, thereby modulating blood pressure and reducing blood pressure variability.
