摘要： A conductive cannula assembly is disclosed to dissipate possible, accumulated electrical charges through body tissue. The cannula assembly includes cannula housing means and cannula means formed of a material having an electrical conductivity value which is at least fifty percent the conductivity value of silver. The invention also includes cannula assembly accessories formed of a material having an electrical conductivity value which is at least fifty percent the conductivity value of silver. The invention further provides a method for guiding endoscopic instruments into body tissue utilizing the cannula assembly and the cannula assembly accessories of the present invention.

摘要： An apparatus for applying a buckle assembly about split portions of tissue is provided. The apparatus is particularly contemplated for use with a buckle of the type having a base member with an opening extending generally transversely therethrough for reception of a first strap end portion and a clamp member slidably housed within a channel formed in the base member. The apparatus includes a frame member, a mechanism disposed in a lower surface of the frame member for releasably supporting the buckle member and a mechanism associated with the frame member for advancing the clamp member within the channel of the buckle to a strap securing position wherein the strap member is secured within the buckle member in a looped configuration about the tissue portions.In an alternate embodiment, a surgical system for repair of split portions of tissue includes a flexible strap member having a buckle member attached thereto. The buckle member includes a base member having a transverse opening extending therethrough for reception of a first end portion of the strap member, a clamp member slidably housed within a partial longitudinal channel defined between lower and upper surfaces of the base member and a tab member for retaining the clamp in a secured position. The buckle may also include a clip member pivotally mounted to an upper surface of the base member to assist in securing the strap member. The system also includes an applier mechanism having a frame, a mechanism disposed in a lower surface of the frame for releasably mounting the buckle and a mechanism for advancing the clamp member within the partial longitudinal channel of the buckle to an engaged position whereby the clamp member securely wedges the strap against the base member.

摘要： A strap assembly to be looped about split portions of human tissue to retain the split portions in adjacent contacting relation to promote healing thereof is provided. The strap assembly includes a flexible strap member and a buckle member to secure the strap member. The buckle member includes a base member having an opening extending therethrough for reception of the strap member and a clip member pivotally mounted to the base member for engaging the strap member. The clip member is adapted to pivot from an open position to allow for reception of the strap member through the opening and a closed position wherein the strap is engaged by and wedged between a forward edge of the clip member and the base member to secure the strap member around the split portions of tissue.

The valve member is mounted for movement between a first position and a second position. The valve assembly includes a caroming mechanism for moving the valve member between the first position and the second position, including cam surfaces formed on the exterior surface of the valve member and a cam pin formed on the interior surface of the upper body portion of the housing.

摘要： A flow switch assembly which includes a valve housing that includes an upper body portion and a lower body portion that are rotatably engaged relative each other. The upper and lower body portions define a chamber. The housing includes an inlet and outlet to the chamber. A valve member seated in the chamber of the valve housing for movement between an open position establishing at least one passage between the inlet and the outlet and a closed position wherein the at least one passage between the inlet and the outlet is non-established. Interactive cam elements are associated with at least one of the upper body portion and the lower body portion, and associated with the valve member, are provided for moving the valve member between the open position and the closed position when the upper body portion of the housing is rotated relative to the lower body portion.

摘要： An endoscopic surgical instrument having a handle assembly, a body portion, and a tool mechanism in which a pivoting handle pivots about a stationary handle to open and close the tool mechanism. The instrument includes a rotatable body portion, in which a rotation knob is provided on the instrument at the stationary handle so that the user may rotate the body portion, and consequently the tool mechanism, using a single hand. Furthermore, an electrocautery connection is provided which is positioned out of the line of sight of the surgeon, so that the surgeon may have an unobstructed view to the surgical site. The pivoting handle is provided with a rotatable connection point for connecting the slidable rod member to essentially eliminate radial deflection of the rod within the outer tube during opening and closing of the handles. The tool mechanism may include grasping jaws having rounded, interdigitating teeth for grasping and securely holding tissue or organs for removal through a cannula.
