    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a plurality of cameras including a forward viewing camera and multiple color cameras, and includes a display device operable to display video images derived from image data captured by the color cameras. A processing unit includes a first processing chip that has an image processor for machine-vision processing of captured image data, and a second processing chip that receives vehicle data and receives image data captured by the color cameras. The first processing chip machine-vision processes image data captured by the cameras for object detection and classification of objects. The first processing chip controls operating parameters of the color cameras to enhance object detection based on machine-vision processing by the first processing chip of image data captured by the color cameras. The second processing chip controls operating parameters of the color cameras for display at the display device of video images.

    Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle includes a camera having a forward field of view, a control including an image processor that processes image data captured by the camera, and a global positioning system. Presence of a traffic light located ahead of the vehicle is determined at least in part by the global positioning system. At least one of (i) wireless communication is received at the vehicle and includes a communicated traffic light status of the traffic light ahead of the vehicle, and (ii) processing of captured image data determines an imaged traffic light status of the traffic light ahead of the vehicle. Responsive to determination that the vehicle is not properly responding to the traffic light status of the traffic light ahead of and being approached by the vehicle, the control at least one of (i) generates an alert and (ii) applies brakes of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a side-mounted camera disposed at a side of the vehicle. Responsive to (a) actuation of a user input by a driver of the vehicle and/or (b) traveling speed of the vehicle, the vehicular vision system adjusts the side-mounted camera between (i) capturing image data representative of a ground region at the side of the vehicle and (ii) capturing image data representative of regions further away from the vehicle. With the side-mounted camera adjusted to capture image data representative of the ground region at the side of the vehicle, the vehicular vision system may use captured image data for displaying video images at a display device viewable by the driver of the vehicle. With the side-mounted camera adjusted to capture image data representative of regions further away from the vehicle, the vehicular vision system processes captured image data for a driver assistance system of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision and alert system includes a camera disposed at a windshield of a vehicle so as to have a field of view forward of the vehicle as the vehicle travels along a traffic lane of a road. Other vehicles traveling along another traffic lane of multiple traffic lanes of the road travel in a direction opposite to the direction of travel of the vehicle as the vehicle travels along its traffic lane. With the camera disposed at the vehicle, the system determines a traffic pattern of the other vehicles traveling along the other traffic lane. Responsive at least in part to the determined traffic pattern of the other vehicles traveling along the other traffic lane, the system transmits a traffic alert communication to a remote system, and the traffic alert communication is indicative of the determined traffic pattern of the other vehicles traveling along the other traffic lane.

    Abstract: A communication system for vehicles includes a plurality of communication devices at respective geographic locations along a road. The communication devices are operable to wirelessly communicate with vehicles traveling on the road. The communication system communicates with a vehicle traveling on the road. At least some of the communication devices along the road communicate location information to the vehicle traveling on the road. The location information is communicated at least during situations where GPS satellite reception at the vehicle is lost or interrupted. The communication system may communicate signals to an automated driving system of an autonomous vehicle to control the autonomous vehicle as it travels on the road. The communication devices may wirelessly communicate with a remote server.

    Abstract: A trailer angle detection system for a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a rear portion of the vehicle and viewing rearward of the vehicle. A plurality of ultrasonic sensors is disposed at the rear portion of the vehicle and sense rearward of the vehicle. A control has at least one processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. Responsive to processing of image data captured by the camera, the control detects a trailer rearward of the vehicle and in the field of view of the camera. The at least one processor is operable to process sensor data captured by the ultrasonic sensors to determine a distance to portions of the trailer rearward of the vehicle. Responsive to processing of captured image data and processing of captured sensor data, the trailer angle detection system is operable to determine an angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle.
