In order to feed an electronic component with energy, a thermoelectric transducer is arranged such that it is thermally operatively connected to at least one thermal conducting element between an internal thermal coupling element and an external thermal coupling element, the internal thermal coupling element being thermally coupled to the process medium and the ambient air flowing around the external thermal coupling element.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments for configuring a system for monitoring the performance of a control loop of an industrial plant includes reading in first process data derived from measurements of at least one sensor inside the control loop during a specified control situation, calculating from the first process data a corresponding at least one performance index indicating the behaviour of the control loop and determining a first quality of the control performance depending on the difference between the at least one performance index and a corresponding threshold value. In case that the first quality of the control performance is determined to be less than good, a second quality of the control performance is determined either by calculating the second quality from an analysis of second process data or by processing a user input from a user of the system which indicates the second quality.
Abstract:
A power semiconductor device includes a four-layer structure having layers arranged in order: (i) a cathode layer of a first conductivity type with a central area being surrounded by a lateral edge, the cathode layer being in direct electrical contact with a cathode electrode, (ii) a base layer of a second conductivity type, (iii) a drift layer of the first conductivity typehaving a lower doping concentration than the cathode layer, and (iv) an anode layer of the second conductivity type which is in electrical contact with an anode electrode. The base layer includes a first layer as a continuous layer contacting the central area of the cathode layer. A resistance reduction layer, in which the resistance at the junction between the lateral edge of the cathode and base layers is reduced, is arranged between the first layer and the cathode layer and covers the lateral edge of the cathode layer.

A current-limitation system for limiting a current through an DC connection in case of a fault occurring in a DC grid of which the DC connection forms a part is provided, as well as a method of operating a current-limitation system for limiting a current through an DC connection in case of a fault occurring in a DC grid of which the DC connection forms a part.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an HVDC switchyard arranged to interconnect a first part of a DC grid with a second part of the DC grid. By means of the invention, a first part of the DC grid is connected to the busbars of the HVDC switchyard via a fast DC breaker, while further part(s) of the DC grid are connected to the busbars of the HVDC switchyard by means of switchyard DC breakers of lower breaking speed. By use of the inventive HVDC switchyard arrangement, the cost for the HVDC switchyard can be considerably reduced, while adequate protection can be provided. In one embodiment, the fast DC breaker is an HVDC station DC breaker forming part of an HVDC station. In another embodiment, the fast DC breaker is a switchyard DC breaker.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented system and method for predictive and diagnostic analysis of an electrical transmission, generation and distribution asset health includes a computer with a non-transient computer readable medium able to receive data regarding an asset, its components, component subsystem and parameters related thereto. Instructions stored on the non-transient computer readable medium execute instructions that predictively calculate overall asset health and also calculated the states of subsystems and component parameters, providing a diagnostic of the causes of poor asset health.
Abstract:
An exemplary coil actuator for an associated switching device which can be actuated during its operation from an open position to a closed position to allow a current to flow therethrough and from the closed position to the open position to interrupt such flowing from flowing therethrough. The coil actuator includes a coil electromagnet arranged to move between a rest position and an actuating position, wherein movement from the rest position to the actuating position is suitable to cause the actuation of the switching device; and an electronic component arranged to count an operation time which is indicative of the duration of the actuation of the switching device.
