    Abstract: A curable resin composition includes an acetoacetyl functional unsaturated polyester with a branched molecular skeleton containing olefinically unsaturated functional groups therein and acetoacetyl functional groups chemically bonded to the branched molecular skeleton. The acetoacetyl functional unsaturated polyester contains at least 2 wt % of the olefinically unsaturated functional groups, relative to the total weight of the acetoacetyl functional unsaturated polyester, and at least 20 wt % of the acetoacetyl functional groups, relative to the total weight of the acetoacetyl functional unsaturated polyester. The curable resin composition can be used to formulate coating compositions.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a coating composition or paint comprising a multistage latex with at least first and second stages, wherein the composition or paint is substantially free of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and capable of film formation even in the absence of coalescent agents. The base paint formulation is capable of being tinted at a point-of-sale (i.e. in-store) using a colorant composition of a type and quantity required to produce a paint of desired color and finish. The paints, show improved block resistance, scrub resistance and tack resistance.

    Abstract: A coating composition including about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a latex or a water-dispersible film forming polymer, based on the total weight of the coating composition, a surfactant present in the coating composition at 0.1% to about 1% on the continuous phase of the coating composition; a polymeric associative thickener present in the coating composition at about 0.1% to about 2% on the continuous phase of the coating composition; about 0.1 wt % to about 5 wt % a styrene acrylic resin, based on the total weight of the coating composition; and an aqueous diluent.
