Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Embodiments disclosed herein relate to methods and systems for updating a partially allowed network slice selection assistance information (NSSAI) list, and managing a congestion timer/back-off timer for an alternative single-NSSAI (S-NSSAI) in wireless communication networks. The methods include removing network slice support information stored in a user equipment (UE), if a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message from a network indicates to delete the network slice support information. The methods include applying a back-off timer to the S-NSSAI to be replaced (S-NSSAI-1)/alternative S-NSSAI (S-NSSAI-A)/combination of S-NSSAI-A+S-NSSAI-1, on receiving a Packet Data Unit (PDU) session establishment request, when the network is congested. Abstract: A method of a user equipment (UE) for establishing a session with one or more Stand-alone Non-Public Networks (SNPNs) includes first sending a service request to a SNPN network entity while the UE is in an idle mode, monitoring a response to the service request based on a first timer and a counter, initiating a second timer in response to determining that the counter exceeds a threshold count, receiving an indication of a change in a current SNPN, or an update associated with a selected entry of the current SNPN, stopping the second timer, and second sending the service request to the SNPN network entity for connection with a new SNPN, or the current SNPN with the update, the second sending being performed in response to determining that the second timer has stopped, and the second sending being performed while the UE remains in the idle mode.

Further, the method includes avoiding to reject a request for mobility registration update from the UE to manage a context associated with the UE during a discontinuous coverage scenario, when the network apparatus receives the unavailability information due to discontinuous coverage from the UE.

Abstract: The disclosure discloses a system and a method implemented in the UE to perform PLMN selection using a locally stored slice aware steering of roaming (SoR) list. According to an embodiment the UE prioritizes the PLMN based on the locally stored SoR list. The UE further maintains an updated enhanced slice aware SoR information list having an updated network slice support information along with granularity information per tracking area identity of each PLMN in a database of the UE. In an embodiment, the UE updates the SoR information list in its database based on a response that is received upon sending a registration request from the PLMN.
