Abstract: An apparatus for filtering liquids, especially for recovering fibers from white water, includes rotatable filter discs at least partially immersed in the liquid to be filtered, and a shaft wall connected to the discs forming a circular cylindrical filtrate chamber, which extends centrally through the discs. A rigid stationary partition wall extends in the filtrate chamber dividing the latter into at least two axial channels. The partition wall is spaced from the shaft wall and arranged such that all of said axial channels receive various fractions of filtrate, respectively. Filtrate discharge means is provided for discharging said fractions of filtrate respectively from the respective axial channels, such that the pressure prevailing in the filtrate of each channel is at least substantially as high as atmospheric pressure.

Abstract: Apparatus for separating solid particles, such as amalgam waste from the waste water from dentists' surgical units, employs at least one filter body through which the liquid flows and which consists of a filter medium enclosed between two perforated walls, and at least one sedimentation zone. The filter medium consists of balls of alumina having a diameter of 0.05-15 mm and a density such that the balls float in or are carried along by the liquid flowing through the filter body. The balls, which do not fill out the entire volume between the perforated walls (although they fill out the cross-sectional area of the filter body), rub against each other in the flowing liquid, so that the filter body is self-cleaning.

A filter for swimming pool water comprises an array of elements 12 in common housing (Fig. 1, not shown), each comprising a porous, flat, hollow base of sintered polyethylene, enclosed by a bag of woven polyethylene of smaller porosity. The base is made of two identical sheets welded to porous edge strips or having integral edge flanges which are welded together (Figs. 2b, 2c, not shown). Porous spacers 48 brace the sheets apart and may be formed separately and fastened to the sheets or formed integrally therewith. Bag 55 has a hole to accommodate filtrate outlet 40, and its open end is secured by ties 56 and clamps 57 to the base. Outlet 40 is secured to manifold (44) by a screw joint. The housing has a lower inlet (20), an inlet dam (30), over which incoming water flows, and an overflow (27), leading to drain, to limit the water level therein. Outlet manifold (44) is connected to a filtrate suction pump, which may be reversed to clean the elements (Fig. 4, not shown), inlet (20) being closed and drain outlet (23) opened. Or the elements are washed down using a hose pipe on their exteriors. Filter aid may be used. The housing may be fibreglass-reinforced plastics.

Abstract: The present invention provides a multi plate screw press sludge dewatering machine and a helical shaft thereof. The multi plate screw press sludge dewatering machine includes fixed rings, movable rings, the helical shaft, a sludge inlet tank and a sludge discharging tank; the helical shaft adopts a variable diameter variable pitch helical shaft, a lead angle arrangement sequence of a helical blade of the whole helical shaft is gradual reduction from the sludge discharging tank to the sludge inlet tank, and the lead angle arrangement sequence is gradually reduced from 16°-22° to 6°-14°; a pitch of the helical shaft is gradually increased along a direction from the sludge inlet tank to the sludge discharging tank; a diameter of a shaft body of the helical shaft is gradually increased along with a direction of the sludge discharging tank from a ⅓ position of a shaft length; and blockage prevention plates are arranged on two sides of the bottom of the helical blade. The helical shaft in the present invention is specially designed, so that the pitch is more reasonable, a helical angle is gentler, frictional resistance when sludge passes through the helical shaft may be effectively reduced, and phenomena of shaft blockage and shaft sticking of the sludge may be reduced.

The cover body includes a first space and a second space that are partitioned from each other by the guide plate. The cover body is provided with: a first opening allowing communication between the first space and the internal space; and a second opening allowing communication between the second space and the internal space.
