    摘要: Separation method and apparatus for separating a gaseous mixture, for example, air, in a cryogenic rectification plant in which a compressed stream is divided into subsidiary streams that are extracted from a main heat exchanger of the plant at higher and lower temperatures. The two streams are then combined and expanded in a turboexpander to generate refrigeration for the plant. The flow rates of the two streams are adjusted to control inlet temperature of a turboexpander supplying plant refrigeration and to minimize potential deviation of the turboexpander exhaust from a saturated vapor state. Control of the expansion ratio can advantageously be applied to allow variable liquid production from the rectification plant.

    摘要: A distillation method and apparatus having application to the distillation of air in which liquid production make is varied by varying the pressure ratio across a turboexpander used in generating refrigeration. The pressure ratio is varied by varying the pressure of a compressed stream fed to the turboexpander. This is done by solely compressing such compressed stream by a first booster compressor during a low rate of production of liquid products. During a high rate of production of liquid products, the compressed stream is also compressed within a second booster compressor. The second booster compressor is driven by a variable speed drive to allow a variety of liquid production rates between the low level of liquid production and the high level of liquid production.

    摘要: A method for separating air by cryogenic distillation. A first compressor compresses air to a first pressure, and sends part of that air to a second compressor which compresses that part to a second pressure. Part of the air at the second pressure is cooled in a heat exchanger and sent to a third compressor where part of it is compressed to a third pressure. Part of the air at the third pressure is liquefied and sent a column system. Around half of the total liquefied air sent to the column system will have originally been compressed by the third compressor. Part of the air at the first pressure is cooled in a heat exchanger and part of the cooled air at the first pressure is then expanded to the pressure of the column system. The expanded air is sent to the column system.

    摘要: In a process for the production of a pressurized gaseous product by low-temperature separation of air, which is at times done in a gas operation and at times in a combined operation, whereby in the gas operation and in the combined operation (a) purified charging air is cooled under pressure, partially liquefied, and subjected to rectification to produce gaseous and liquid fractions, (b) extremely cold liquid of at least one of the liquid fractions from the rectification is evaporated under elevated pressure by indirect heat exchange with feed air, heated, and obtained as a pressurized gaseous product, whereby in combined operation, (c) the cold that is required for this purpose is generated in an air-refrigeration cycle, by air being compressed in the refrigeration cycle and work expanded, in which case heat is removed from the air, and the actively depressurized air that is partially in countercurrent is heated again with the charging air that is to be cooled and then repressurized, (d) extremely cold liquid is produced and at least partially stored. During gas operation, the air throughput in the refrigeration cycle is reduced to zero, and extremely cold stored liquid is used to compensate for cold losses that are no longer covered by the refrigeration cycle. In the corresponding apparatus, during gas operation the compressor(s) for the supply of recycle air are switched off in a compressor station for recycle air and throttle air.
