    摘要: Circuits and methods related to power amplifier efficiency based on multi-harmonic approximation. In some embodiments, an output network circuit can be provided for multi-harmonic control of a radio-frequency (RF) power amplifier. The output network circuit can include an impedance matching network configured for a fundamental frequency of the power amplifier. The output network circuit can further include a broadband harmonic trap in communication with the impedance matching network. The broadband harmonic trap can be configured to substantially trap a plurality of harmonics associated with the fundamental frequency. The output network circuit can further include a dipole network in communication with the broadband harmonic trap. The dipole network can be configured to tune reactances resulting from the operation of the broadband harmonic trap.

    摘要: A variable matching circuit includes a transformer which is disposed between first and second transistor circuits. A primary inductor device and a secondary inductor device are magnetically coupled in the transformer. The primary inductor device is connected between an output terminal of the first transistor circuit and a bias circuit for the first transistor circuit. The secondary inductor device is connected between an input terminal of the second transistor circuit and a bias circuit for the second transistor circuit. Connection points between the primary inductor device and the bias circuit for the first transistor circuit and between the secondary inductor device and the bias circuit for the second transistor circuit are connected to first and second capacitive elements, respectively. At least one of inductance values of the respective primary and secondary inductor devices and capacitance values of the respective first and second capacitive elements is variable.

    摘要: A directional coupler that provides directional coupling and an impedance transformation is disclosed. In one embodiment, the directional coupler includes a low pass filter having a filter inductor that is coupled between an input port and an output port and a filter capacitor coupled between the output port and ground. The directional coupler also includes detector circuitry wherein the filter inductor is magnetically coupled to a detector inductor in the detector circuitry such that current passing through the filter inductor generates a detector current through the detector inductor. Furthermore, the low pass filter and the detector circuitry cooperate to transform a first impedance presented at the output port to a second impedance presented at the input port. Accordingly, the filter inductor is used in the low pass filter to provide an impedance transformation so as to operate with the detector circuitry to provide a detector current for directional coupling.

    摘要: The invention relates to a Frequency Divider Circuit for dividing an input RF signal to a frequency divided RF signal. The circuit comprises a RF pair, a switching-quad pair coupled in series with a transimpedance amplifier and a double pair of emitter followers. The circuit comprises coupling elements for providing first DC paths to first amplifier paths of the RF pair and for providing second DC paths to second amplifier paths of the series arrangement of the switching-quad pair and the transimpedance amplifier. The first DC paths are independent of the second DC paths. RF connections are provided to couple the first and the second amplifier paths for transferring a signal from the first amplifier paths to the second amplifier paths.

In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes an amplifier configured to output an amplified signal having a selected power level and a first impedance network coupled to receive the amplified signal at an input terminal and generate a first output signal having a first power level at a first output terminal. The first impedance network being configured to load the amplified signal to convert the selected power level to the first power level. The apparatus also includes a second impedance network configured to selectively receive the first output signal and generate a second output signal having a second power level at a second output terminal. The second impedance network being configured to combine with the first impedance network to load the amplified signal to convert the selected power level to the second power level.
