摘要: A semiconductor photonic integrated circuit and a manufacturing method thereof involving a selective-area growth technique using a set of insulating film patterning masks formed on a semiconductor substrate. The mask width and the mask-to-mask open space width are variable but numerically limited. A single crystal growth process is carried out to form on the same substrate a plurality of contiguous bulk semiconductor layers or quantum well layers differing from one another in terms of growth layer thickness or composition. The differences in energy level between these layers are utilized so that semiconductor photonic integrated devices of different functions are formed on the substrate.

摘要: An LAN system provided with a host system connected to an LAN through a plurality of LAN adapters, and a plurality of terminal systems for communicating with the host system through the LAN. A plurality of logical addresses for the host system are set correspondingly to physical addresses of the LAN adapters. One of the logical addresses is selected arbitrarily as a key (common) logical address. When the host system is to send a message to one of the terminal systems, the host system sets the key logical address of the host system as a source logical address included in the message, selects one of the LAN adapters and sends the message to the LAN through the selected LAN adapter. When one of the terminal systems is to send a message to the host system, the terminal system sets the key logical address of the host system as a destination logical address included in the message, sets the physical address of the LAN adapter corresponding to the key logical address as a destination physical address included in the message and sends the message to the LAN.

摘要: A probe comprises a magnet and a Hall element which are provided in a magnetically impermeable case. The Hall element is disposed at the midportion between the two poles of the magnet in parallel with the lines of magnetic force. The presence of a carburized portion in the member to be inspected and the depth of carburization are detected by passing d.c. current across the Hall element and detecting the Hall effect electromotive force produced between the two ends of the element which are opposed in a direction perpendicular to the direction of flow of the current.

摘要: This invention provides a method for synthesizing semi-crystalline polylactides (PLA) even from a lactide mixture including meso-LA and rac-LA. According to the invention, when a mixture of racemic lactide and meso-lactide ispolymerized using a catalyst capable of iso-selectively polymerizing L-lactide and D-lactide, an amorphous poly (meso-lactide) block is formed from meso-lactide and a semi-crystalline poly (racemic lactide) block is formed from racemic lactide by separately polymerizing racemic lactide and meso-lactide by taking advantage of a difference in physicochemical properties between racemic lactide and meso-lactide, whereby polylactide which is semi-crystalline as a whole is produced.
