Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) configured as a drone-coupled wireless device may be configured to transmit a message indicating information relating to the drone-coupled wireless device (e.g., aerial state, non-aerial state, airborne status, drone capability, quality of service (QoS) requirements of a drone service) to a base station. The message may also carry a session connectivity request, which the base station may use to determine that the UE is a drone-coupled wireless device, establish a bearer appropriate for a subscription service of the UE (e.g., as indicated by the drone capability), and apply appropriate protocols for the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for signaling protocols for proximity service functions in a wireless communication system. A first wireless device may identify a wireless relay requirement associated with the first wireless device. A proximity service protocol may be initiated between the first wireless device and a second wireless device based at least in part on the identified wireless relay requirement. The proximity service protocol may be initiated prior to an initiation of a communication data exchange between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. A relay link may be established, via the ProSe protocol, between the first wireless device and the second wireless device based at least in part on the identified wireless relay requirement.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for identification, on a per-PLMN basis of a type of core network associated with each PLMN in a list of networks associated with a base station. A user equipment (UE) may receive the list of networks and, based at least in part on the type(s) of core network accessible via each PLMN and a capability of the UE, initiate a connection establishment with a PLMN and associated core network. In some cases, UEs that are not capable of connections with a first type of core network (e.g., a 5G core network) may be restricted from camping on a cell or PLMN that may provide only connections with the first type of core network (e.g., a 4G core network).

For example, an AMF may receive a message from a UE intended for another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the entity (or function). Similarly, the AMF may receive a message from another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the UE.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a mechanism where a user equipment (UE) may communicate with a neighbor UE of the UE's neighbor UE by utilizing the UE's neighbor UE as a relay for the communication between the UE and the neighbor UE of the UE's neighbor UE. In an aspect, the first UE receives a discovery message from a second UE, the discovery message including information about 1-hop neighbor UEs of the second UE. The first UE determines to communicate with a third UE based on the discovery message, the third UE being one of the 1-hop neighbor UEs of the second UE. The first UE requests the second UE to operate as a relay for communication between the first UE and the third UE. The first UE communicates with the third UE through the second UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish a dynamic coverage enhancement (CE) configuration and then autonomously transition from one CE level to another while in idle mode. The network may blindly detect the CE change during a paging procedure. For example, a mobility management entity (MME) may store dynamic CE information, and it may provide the dynamic CE information to base stations when the UE is paged. In some cases, the base stations may autonomously retransmit paging messages at different CE levels based on the dynamic CE information. In other examples, the MME may direct the base station to retransmit at different CE levels.
