Abstract:
A sensor apparatus and method are disclosed herein, including a sensor element located on a base and a cover located proximate to the base. The cover generally includes a sensor diaphragm and a dimple that can form a part of the cover. A flanged area or flanged portion can also be connected to the bottom portion of the cover. The flanged area provides a surface for contacting a fixture to which the sensor apparatus attaches and holding the sensor apparatus to the fixture in a manner which prevents the sensor diaphragm from contacting the fixture and inducing errors during sensor operations thereof. The cover also can include a flanged or brim-shaped portion which is connected to and surrounds the bottom portion of the cover. The flanged portion can be positioned parallel to the sensor diaphragm.

Abstract:
A prosthetic elbow for replacing an elbow of a dog or a human to restore normal, pain-free joint function. The elbow includes a humeral component for attachment to a humerus and a radioulnar component for attachment to an ulna. The humeral component includes a generally cylindric spool having a contoured external surface defining a first articular surface. The radioulnar component has a generally U-shaped contour with an inner peripheral surface defining a second articular surface sized and shaped for engagement with the first articular surface. Positional guides provide for implantation at precise locations.
Abstract:
The invention provides a wax composition which can be used in comestibles. The wax composition is obtained from sugar cane and comrpises wax esters, aldehydes, tri-glycerides, alcohols, free fatty acids, sterols and polar lipids. A process for preparing a wax composition from crude sugar cane wax, the process comprising the steps of: (i) heating a solution of the crude wax with a lower alcohol as sovlent at the boiling point of the solvent; (ii) allowing phase separation of the solution from (i) and decanting the upper phase while hot; (iii) allowing the separated phase from (ii) to cool and separating crystallised wax from the solvent; (iv) repeating steps (i) to (iii) using the wax from (iii) until all pitch has been removed from the wax; (v) heating the wax to between 90 and 140null C. and oxidising molten wax with oxidizing material; and (vi) continuing the heating under and inert gas on completion of the oxidation step until intermediate peroxide products are removed.
Abstract:
A lightweight tool extending apparatus comprising an outer member having a lower end structured for interconnection with a drive ratchet, an inner member structured for insertion into the outer member in sliding relation thereto and having an upper end structured for interconnection with a drive head, a universal joint structured to rotate and pivot about its longitudinal axis so that the outer member may be angled relative to the inner member, a light mounted to the inner member structured to generate a focused light beam above the upper end of the inner member, and a depressible button in a side of the inner member structured to protrude through one of a plurality of holes in a corresponding side of the outer member, thereby securing the inner and outer members in place relative to one another.

A detergent concentrate composition suitable for incorporation into a finished lubricating oil comprises:(A) an additive concentrate comprising:(a) a lubricating oil, and(b) a lubricating oil soluble sulphurised or non-sulphurised alkaline earth metal hydrocarbyl phenate modified by reaction to incorporate from greater than 2 to less than 40% by weight based on the weight of the concentrate (A) of either (i) at least one carboxylic acid having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a C.sub.10 to C.sub.24 alkyl or alkenyl group and R.sup.1 is either hydrogen, a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl group or a --CH.sub.2 -COOH group, or an anhydride or ester thereof, or (ii) a di- or polycarboxylic acid containing from 36 to 100 carbon atoms or an anhydride or ester thereof, the concentrate having a BN greater than 300 and a viscosity at 100.degree. C. of less than 1000 cSt, and(B) an additive concentrate comprising:(a) a lubricating oil, and(b) a lubricating oil soluble sulphurised or non-sulphurised alkaline earth metal hydrocarbyl phenate, that has not been modified or has been modified by reaction to incorporate less than 0.1% by weight based on the weight of the concentrate (B) of either (i) or (ii), the concentrate preferably having a BN of less than 300.
Abstract:
Methods and products useful to simultaneously control the root diseases caused by Gaeumannomyces graminis, Rhizoctonia, and Pythium in crops susceptible to these root diseases are described. These include a method to identify seed-treatment products for potential to simultaneously control the three kinds of root diseases; Bacillus strains having activity against the three kinds of root diseases and methods of obtaining the same, and compositions comprising a fungicide and a Bacillus strain having activity against the three kinds of root diseases, which compositions are useful for field control of the combination of the three kinds of root diseases.
Abstract:
A method of eliminating unevenness in pass-reversal thermal spraying of a substrate surface by: uniformly thermally spraying a substrate surface by moving a wire fed arc spray gun along the length of the substrate surface at constant spray parameters while using a first wire feed rate and a first current level for the gun's power supply; (b) when said spray gun approaches an end zone of the pass length requiring reversal of spray gun movement, reducing the wire feed rate and current by up to about 25% until the spray gun has completed such reversal and has exited from said end zone in the opposite direction; (c) while still continuing thermal spraying, restoring the wire feed rage and current to said first levels; and (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) as the spray gun approaches other or repeated end zones of the substrate length during repeated passes.
Abstract:
A method and system for entering numerical information in a manner that can be easily used by visually impaired individuals are disclosed. Using a touch screen display, for each digit of a multidigit number a first location on the screen is touched a number of times equal to the digit followed by touching a second location. Once all the digits have been entered, a third location is touched. This method allows for dividing the touch screen display into a small number of large area touch active regions, such as quadrants, thus reducing the accuracy required to enter a value since the large area quadrants are easily referenced to the screen boundaries. Further, audible cues are used to prompt the user as well as provide feedback.
