摘要: A driving method is described for a liquid crystal display device of the active matrix type which includes a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal disposed between the substrates so as to form a matrix of pixels provided with a plurality of pixel electrodes arranged in rows and columns, a plurality of row electrodes and a plurality of column electrodes, respectively, for applying a voltage to the pixels via the pixel electrodes, and a plurality of active elements each provided to a pixel and connected to a pixel electrode, a row electrode and a column electrode, respectively. The driving method includes a field-inversion drive scheme wherein the liquid crystal display device is driven while inverting a polarity of voltage applied to each pixel every picture scanning field. The voltage applied to each pixel is corrected based on a voltage to be applied to a column electrode connected to the pixel for a period from a time of selecting an active element at the pixel in a field period to a time of selecting the active element in a subsequent field period.

摘要: A capacitance type moisture sensor having the capability of accurately detecting amounts of water is provided. This sensor has a sensor housing having an electrically-insulating wall, a pair of electrodes disposed on the sensor housing, and a circuit unit. An outer surface of the electrically-insulating wall faces a space where the amounts of water should be detected. On an inner surface of the electrically-insulating wall, at least one of the electrodes is formed. An electric field developed between the electrodes is defined as a moisture detecting region. The circuit unit includes a capacitance detecting circuit for detecting a capacitance value between the electrodes, which changes in response to the amounts of water in the moisture detecting region, and an output circuit for providing an electrical signal corresponding toe the amounts of water according the capacitance value detected by the capacitance detecting circuit.

摘要: A flat cable is formed by disposing a layer of conductor lines on one side and a conductor layer on the other side, respectively, of an insulating support layer so as to provide a connection part having a laminated structure including the conductor lines, the insulating support layer and the conductor layer in this order. The flat cable is connected with a connector including a housing and contacts disposed to be connected with the conductor lines and the conductor layer on mutually opposite inner surfaces of the housing. The resultant connection structure effectively utilizes both surfaces of the flat cable to be reduced in size and allows a stable connection and a stable potential level of the conductor and conductor lines.

摘要: A liquid crystal apparatus includes a liquid crystal device formed by a pair of substrates having thereon a group of scanning electrodes and a group of data electrodes intersecting the scanning electrodes so as to form an electrode matrix, and a liquid crystal disposed between the substrates so as to form a pixel at each intersection of the scanning electrodes and the data electrodes; and temperature-detection means for detecting a temperature of the liquid crystal device. The liquid crystal device is driven by applying a scanning signal comprising a clear pulse, a write pulse and a correction pulse to the scanning electrodes and for applying data signals to the data electrodes in synchronism with the scanning signal, while changing a voltage level of the correction pulse based on temperature data from the temperature-detection means. As a result, the liquid crystal device can effect a stable display over the entire area even if it has a temperature distribution therealong.

摘要: A circuit assembly suitable for constituting, e.g., a liquid crystal display device, is constituted by a transparent first substrate having thereon a plurality of first electrodes, and a second substrate having thereon a plurality of second electrodes and at least partially superposed with the first substrate so that the mutually corresponding first and second electrodes are superposed and electrically connected with each other. The first electrode has a light-transmissive layer and an opaque layer laminated with the light transmissive layer, and a portion of the first electrode superposed with the second substrate at least partially includes a light-transmissive portion. The first or second substrate has an alignment mark at a position thereof corresponding to the light-transmissive portion of the first electrode. The first substrate may for example be combined with another first substrate so as to sandwich a liquid crystal therebetween to form a liquid crystal device. The second substrate may carry a semiconductor IC chip for supplying drive signals to the liquid crystal device.
