Abstract: Proposed is a method of emulsifying fuel oil and a desulfurization agent. The method includes (a) a step of adding a desulfurization agent to fuel oil for line mixing thereof, (b) a step of generating droplets in the resulting mixture of step (a), (c) a step of causing the resulting mixture of step (b) to pass through a magnetic field so that the mixture can be magnetized, (d) a step of subjecting the resulting mixture of step (c) to vortex mixing, and (e) a step of causing collision of the resulting mixture of step (d). The method uses fuel oil as a continuous phase and a water-based desulfurization agent as a disperse phase and emulsifies the desulfurization agent in the fuel oil through water-in-oil (W/o) emulsification so that the desulfurization agent can be stably dispersed in the fuel oil. Since the fuel oil and the desulfurization agent are burned together during combustion, sulfur oxides that may occur during the combustion are removed, whereby sulfur oxide emissions are reduced.

Abstract: The invention relates to a microemulsion comprising water in an amount of 1-30 w %; sodium or potassium oleate, Na/K salts of tall oil fatty acid, and/or Na/K salts of C16-C18 saturated or unsaturated fatty acids in an amount of 10-40 w %; oleic acid, tall oil fatty acid, or C16-C18 saturated or unsaturated fatty acids in an amount of 2-40 w %; ethanol in an amount of 0-40 w %; glycerol in an amount of 5-40 w %; and liquid hydrocarbon(s) in an amount of 5-40 w %, up to a maximum or total of components parts of 100 w %. Moreover, methods of manufacture and uses of the microemulsion are disclosed.

Abstract: An emulsifying dispersant includes, as the main component, vesicles formed from an amphiphilic substance capable of self-assembly or an emulsifying dispersant comprising single particles of a biopolymer as the main component. The particles made from amphiphilic substances capable of self-assembly are used. The amphiphilic substances are selected from among polyoxyethylene-hydrogenated castor oil derivatives wherein the average number of added ethylene oxide molecule is 5 to 15, dialkyldimethyl-ammonium halides wherein the chain length of the alkyl or alkenyl is 8 to 22, and phospholipids or phospholipid derivatives. According to the invention a three-phase structure composed of an aqueous phase, an emulsifying dispersant phase and an oil phase is formed on the surface of an emulsion to give an emulsion (such as emulsion fuel) excellent in thermal stability and long-term stability.

The average micelle diameter follows a Gaussian distribution having a mean, μ, and wherein the standard deviation σ is less than or equal to 0.2μ. The industrial fluid is also substantially free from defoamers or anti-foam compounds.

Abstract: An industrial fluid is disclosed. The fluid comprises an oleaginous component, an aqueous component, and a surfactant. Substantially all of the surfactant is bound within micelles of the oleaginous component. This results in there being substantially no unbound surfactant present in the fluid. The industrial fluid is also substantially flee from insoluble defoamers or anti-foam compounds.

Abstract: A liquid concentrate comprising essentially: (A) 0.1 to 10 wt. % of one or more amphoteric emulsifying agents; (B) 30 to 95 wt. % of one or more nonionic alkoxylated surfactants; (C) 0 to 20 wt. % of one or more glycol-based solubilizers; and (D) 0 to 65 wt. % of one or more organic solvents; wherein component (B) comprises a mixture of C6-C15-alkanol ethoxylates with different carbon numbers for the alkanol unit species, the carbon numbers for the two C6-C15-alkanol ethoxylates which have the highest share in weight in the mixture being at least 1.5 carbon numbers distant from each other, is useful for reducing or eliminating the formation in a liquid hydrocarbon fuel of ice particles having a weight average particle size greater than 1 μm when said liquid hydrocarbon fuel is cooled to temperatures in the range of from 0 to −50° C.
