摘要: A novel and improved method and apparatus for generating a reduced peak amplitude high data rate channel comprised of a set of lower rate channels is described. The set of lower rate channels are phase rotated before being summed and transmitted. The amount of phase rotation is dependent on the number of channels used to form the higher rate channel. In an embodiment where two lower rate channels are used, the in-phase and quadrature-phase components of the two channels are complex multiplied before upconversion with an in-phase and quadrature-phase sinusoids. For a high rate channel comprised of more than two lower rate channels, the in-phase and quadrature-phase component of each channel is upconverted with a set of sinusoids that are phase offset from one another.

摘要: A method and apparatus for resolving ambiguity in reception of multiple retransmitted frames includes ascertaining for each data frame received from a transmitter whether the frame is a retransmitted frame. If the frame is a retransmitted frame, the frame may be stored in a resequencing buffer. If an abort timer associated with the second round of retransmission has been set for the retransmitted frame, an associated negative-acknowledgment-list (NAK-list) entry is not removed from a NAK list until the abort timer has expired. If the abort timer has not been set for the retransmitted frame, the associated NAK-list entry is removed from the NAK list. The method and apparatus may reside in a transport function in which a transmitter sends data frames to a receiver in accordance with the Radio Link Protocol interface. The transport function may reside in, e.g., a data-capable cellular or satellite-based base station and subscriber unit.

摘要: A method and apparatus for multiplexing reverse link feedback channels on a single reverse link frequency supporting multiple forward link frequencies for forward link channels is provided. The design includes assigning the reverse link frequency to a mobile station, assigning one or more of the forward link frequencies to the reverse link frequency, and code division multiplexing a plurality of the reverse link feedback channels on the reverse link frequency.

摘要: A method and apparatus for reducing HTTP header is provided. The method may include receiving a suppression identifier list, wherein the suppression identifier list associates header identifier values with at least a portion of one or more header content items in an HTTP header, replacing the one or more header content items with the corresponding header field identifier from the suppression identifier list, and transmitting the data packet with the one or more header field identifiers replacing the corresponding one or more header content items.

摘要: Operating at least one low duty cycle (LDC) controller to maintain synchronization between the LDC controller and a plurality of LDC terminals operating over a communication network using only overhead channels of the network and conforming to the protocol and timing of said network, wherein synchronization between the LDC controller and the plurality of LDC terminals is maintained separately from the protocol and timing of the communication network, and enables the LDC controller to schedule power down and wake up of the plurality of LDC terminals for durations longer than allowable under the protocol and timing of the communication network.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for using separate caches to retain overhead information while a device is in idle mode. A first cache can be associated with a first timer and can be utilized when a device is performing idle handoff. A second cache, associated with a second timer, can be utilized when a device is not performing idle handoff. The second timer can have a longer period of validity than the first timer. The separate caches can be utilized in networks that include femto cell topography, wherein re-use of pilot PN codes are at a greater frequency than the re-use frequency in macro cell topography.

摘要: To access a first communication system, a terminal determines a transmission time for an access probe, an expected response time from the system, and a protected time interval based on the transmission time and/or expected response time. The terminal determines a starting time for sending the access probe such that the protected time interval does not overlap a tune-away interval in which the terminal is to monitor anther frequency/air-interface. This starting time may be set initially to the end of a prior access probe plus a pseudo-random wait duration and may be advanced forward or moved backward in time, if needed, by a time duration selected such that the protected time interval does not overlap the tune-away interval.

摘要: A bundler utility of a client accomplishes an objective of binding/aggregating two or more network interfaces at an application layer to increase bandwidth that the application layer can use. This interface is determined by the longest prefix match in the routing table of the device. Rather than imposing a change to the IP stack, the bundler utility presents a solution to the link aggregation problem that can be deployed without requiring any change to the client software (e.g., no browser change) and without requiring changes on the web servers.
