Abstract:
An image capture device, such as a scanner, is built including hardware necessary to capture both reflective and transmissive image data from a transparency. The device may associate the two types of data internally or rely on other hardware, such as a controlling computer, to do the association of the two quantities of data. In one possible embodiment, the device would include the ability to perform optical character recognition (OCR) of the reflective data (or the transmissive data, if desired), converting to a type of text format any printing on the transparency.
Abstract:
An image file imaged by a digital camera is stored in a memory card, and the digital camera sets the number of prints for each image file according to the digital print order format (DPOF) standard and records the number as a printing information file in the memory card. When the number of prints is set, an image file in which at least one frame is designated for printing is determined to have a read-only file property in order to prevent the image file from being erased against the designation for printing. There is provided a mode for collectively designating all frames for printing.
Abstract:
There is provided a digital camera having a printing function, the camera comprising a detector for detecting the amount of camera shake during shooting, a recording medium for recording each of shot images and camera shake data on the amount of camera shake detected by the detector, a selector for selecting a shot image to be printed from the shot images recorded on the recording medium, and a controller for judging, for the shot image selected by the selector, whether or not proper printing of the shot image can be performed. The digital camera further comprises an indicator for giving a warning when it is judged that proper printing cannot be performed.
Abstract:
A recording medium for storing virtual deletion information, and recording and/or reproducing method and apparatus therefor are provided. The recording medium includes a first region having a plurality of still pictures, and a second region having first virtual deletion information for the still pictures, and still picture group information for separating the still pictures in the first region into a predetermined maximum number of groups in order to manage the still pictures at a group level, wherein the first virtual deletion information is within the still picture group information, and if the first virtual deletion information is set to a virtual delete state, the corresponding still picture is not to be reproduced. Accordingly, file extent information can be prevented from excessively increasing by maximally preventing a recording area from being scattered, when some of a data file are deleted by a user's request.
Abstract:
A method and system of authentication for sensor-recorders and other information capture devices is disclosed. In accordance with aspects of the current invention, a digital sample of the environment is obtained. From this sample and at least one parameter representative of at least one condition under which the sample was generated, a digital signature is created. This signature is stored in memory with the sample to be checked at a later time for authenticity. The file is checked for authenticity by generating a second signature from the file and comparing that signature to the original signature. If the two signatures are identical, the sample is considered authentic and if the two signatures are different, the sample cannot be authenticated.
Abstract:
A method is provided for processing image metadata for an image to be transmitted to a receiver. In accordance with the method, metadata access privileges are determined for the receiver and receiver metadata is derived from the image metadata based upon the metadata access privileges for the receiver. The receiver metadata is associated with the image.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of processing customer image orders, comprising the steps of identifying one or more quality features of one or more digital images, printing the one or more digital images thereby creating output format prints and, automatically providing an indicator relating to the one or more quality features with the output format prints.
Abstract:
An information storage medium capable of recording and playing back still picture information is provided with a first information unit having one still picture information, and a first group unit which is composed of a set of first information units, and has a plurality of pieces of still picture information having different contents. Information is recorded in the first group unit.
Abstract:
A camera for recording an image and associated audio. The camera activation mechanism also initiates the recording of audio data in the audio memory, with the audio memory being continuously overwritten after a maximum time of audio is recorded. Thus, at any point in time when an image is captured, audio from prior to that time is available, and audio after that time could be recorded, all with the pressing of a single button.
Abstract:
A photographing interval of a digital camera that generates an intermediate image having a resolution between an original image and a thumbnail image is adjusted. Preset intermediate image generation parameters are referenced, and it is determined whether or not generation of an intermediate image is to be carried out. When it is determined that generation of the intermediate image is to be carried out, the intermediate image is generated in a signal processing unit on the basis of the size of the intermediate image set in the intermediate image generation parameters. When it is determined that generation of the intermediate image is not to be carried out, the intermediate image is not generated. Compressed data of the thumbnail image, the original image, and the intermediate image, as well as a header section and a tag section, are stored in a medium such as a memory card.
