Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a massage apparatus for a massage chair wherein massage benefits or effects are provided to a back body area, a seat or bottom body area, and a thigh body area of a user. Massage benefits or effects may also be provided to a head and neck body area of the user. The massage apparatus includes a frame and a massage device. Also, the present invention is directed to a massage chair that includes a massage apparatus and at least one health monitoring device or system. As a non-limiting example, the at least one health monitoring device or system is a portable, wrist blood pressure and heart rate monitoring device that is manufactured and/or programmed to measure or obtain blood pressure and heart rate of the user right at or near the massage chair when the user is preferably positioned on the massage chair.
Abstract:
A cable driven actuator and actuator method involve a movable link that is movable about a path by a cable connected to the link, and a movable support member having a cable routing element. The support member is movable in a manner to change a moment arm of the cable acting on the link to control torque applied to the joint.
Abstract:
An exercise training apparatus 10 attached to a trainee who performs a body exercise training, includes movable bodies 11, 12, actuators 13, 14, change detecting means 15, 16 and a controlling means 25, the movable bodies 11, 12 having fixed members 11a, 12a which a part of a trainee's body is fixed to and exercising a trainee's extremities by rotating around shafts 19, 22, respectively, the change detecting means 15, 16 each detecting a physical quantity that changes depending on force applied to the fixed members 11a, 12a by a trainee, the controlling means 25, in response to a detection of a predetermined change in a physical quantity by the change detecting means 15, 16, driving the actuators 13, 14, rotating the movable bodies 11, 12 in a first direction and successively rotating the movable bodies 11, 12 in a second direction opposite to the first direction.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a walking assistance robot and a method of controlling the walking assistance robot. The control method includes collecting motion information by sensing or measuring a motion of at least one joint, determining a motion state of the at least one joint based on the sensed or measured motion of the at least one joint, and controlling the walking assistance robot based on the determined motion state of the at least one joint.
Abstract:
A plunger adapter and a detachable compression pad for piston driven chest compression devices optimizes the application of chest compressions to a fixed location on a patient's chest. The detachable compression pad may be removably secured to the patient above the patient's sternum to ensure that the compression pressure from the piston through the piston adapter is applied to a fixed location on the patient's chest. As the plunger and plunger adapter retract from the chest, the compression pad remains fixed to the patient's chest, and as the plunger and plunger adapter extend from the chest compression unit for subsequent compression strokes, the distal end of the plunger adapter reengages the compression pad to apply compression to a fixed location on the patient's chest.
Abstract:
Second joints are provided in positions where a seating unit is restrained from swinging relative to leg links due to a force acting on the seating unit from upper limb links through the intermediary of the second joints. A motion not intended by a user can be restrained from being generated due to a force acting from the upper limb links provided in the upper limbs.
Abstract:
The present invention is a massage chair, having main frame with specific curve, a chair back located by the chair seat, wherein the chair back is adjusted properly by the chair seat for rotating and having a rotation angle; wherein the main frame including back section, buttock section and leg section, the buttock section has an upward curve and the leg section has a downward curve, thus, massage provider can provide massage service to human thigh when the rotation angle is more than 110 degrees.

Abstract:
A fitness equipment for use in hip lift and treading, including a casing. The casing has therein a power source. The power source is a motor. A center axle of the motor rotates to drive a transmission shaft. The transmission shaft drives first and second independent shafts to rotate. Rotational mechanical energy of the first and second independent shafts is transmitted to first, second, third and fourth eccentric blocks, such that first, second, third and fourth spindles, first and second U-shaped supports, and first and second rests together move vertically and alternately along an elliptic track so as for a user standing on the first and second rests to tread and for the user sitting on the first and second rests to perform hip lift.
Abstract:
The invention muscle fiber excitation system (MFES) targets improving muscular and skeletal systems and preventing blood clots. MFES consists of 2 shafts, each affixed with 2 CAMs featuring surround peaks and valleys surfaces, a platform with stiffener side and compliant other side, and 4 plungers at the corners. The shafts tied with timing bets through pulleys are driven with DC motor. As the CAMs rotate the peaks and valleys make contacts with the platform stiffener side causing the platform to telescope 1 mm to 4 mm displacements, transferring contact stress stimuli from platform stiffener to compliant human contact side at frequency that encompass muscle fiber excitation frequencies. Wearable and standing model tests show improved bone density, muscle contraction and blood flow, preventing blood pooling. There is no side effect compared to use of blood thinners for blood clot prevention. Wearable model is concealable compared to compression pneumatic device with user complaints.
