Abstract:
An air purifier includes an outer case having an air purifying cavity, an ionizer module, and an ozone reduction module. The ionizer module includes a power unit and an ionizing electrode. The ozone reduction module is electrically connected to the power unit for generating heat within the air purifying cavity, wherein when a temperature within the air purifying cavity reaches a preset temperature, a level of ozone generated by the ionizing electrode unit is substantially minimized and controlled for preventing excess generation of ozone.
Abstract:
An air filtration system includable in and for HVAC equipment includes one or more intense field dielectric filter units and a field charging unit retained in a support structure or cabinet by a removable door which includes control circuitry and contactors engageable with corresponding contact members on a filter unit and the field charging unit for supplying high voltage DC potential to the respective units. Each filter unit includes a filter core comprising a stacked array of filter elements formed of dielectric sheets interconnected by elongated spaced apart ribs forming flow passages. The field charging unit and the filter units are removable from the support or cabinet for cleaning or replacement by opening or removing the door. An interlock switch and a field shorting mechanism are actuated during servicing or replacement of the system components.
Abstract:
An air purifier with front-loading electrodes includes an electrode loading compartment for storing the plate electrodes. When the air purifier is in a closed configuration, the electrode loading compartment cooperates with the housing to fully enclose the plate electrodes. When the plate electrodes need to be removed, the electrode loading compartment can be moved translationally with respect to the housing to define a gap therebetween. The electrode loading compartment can then be rotated to access and remove the plate electrodes.
Abstract:
An air purification system includes an electrostatic collection grid module inside the housing of the system to remove particulate matter from the air flowing through the housing. The collection grid module is removable from a side of the housing. The collection grid module is equipped with a handle and a release mechanism. A user may draw out the collection grid module from the housing by pulling the handle while activating the release mechanism. Thus, the collection grid module may be cleaned with ease.
Abstract:
An electro-kinetic air conditioner for removing particulates from the air creates an airflow using no moving parts. The conditioner includes an ion generator that has an electrode assembly including a first array of emitter electrodes, a second array of collector electrodes, and a high voltage generator. Preferably, a third or leading or focus electrode is located upstream of the first array of emitter electrodes, and/or a trailing electrode is located downstream of the second array of collector electrodes. The device can also include an interstitial electrode located between collector electrodes, an enhanced collector electrode with an integrally formed trailing end, and an enhanced emitter electrode with an enhanced length in order to increase emissitivity.
Abstract:
Methods of capturing and labeling a species, include attracting magnetically attractable particles to a solid support by magnetic forces, which particles have an affinity for the species, contacting the particles on the support with a sample containing the species to capture the species onto the particles on the support, and binding the species captured on the particles directly or indirectly to a detectable label before and/or whilst the species is captured on the particles on the support. The label may be bound to the captured species via an immunological binding partner which binds selectively to the species and may be a fluorescent label, luminescent label, enzyme label, dye label, phosphorescent label, metal-chelating label, radio label, spin label, heavy metal label, nucleic acid or nucleic acid analog hybridization label, avid or avid-like label suitably bound to or incorporated in particles which also bear a binding agent such as an antibody causing the particles to bind to the captured species.
Abstract:
The external oil pan magnet (10) is placed on the external surface of the oil pan (2) where it attracts and captures metallic particles suspended in a motor's oil supply. In a first embodiment, the external oil pan magnet (10) is comprised of magnet (12) coupled to a channeled shield (14). The shield (14) leaves at least one surface of the magnet exposed and amplifies the magnetic force of the magnet. The exposed surface magnetically attaches to the external surface of the oil pan (2). After the oil is drained during normal maintenance, the operator slides the magnet assembly across the bottom of the pan and over the oil pan plug hole. Metallic debris is evacuated through the oil pan plug hole. The plug is replaced and the oil supply replenished. In a second embodiment, the magnet assembly is configured to encircle the oil pan plug. The magnet temporarily magnetizes the plug which attracts metallic debris from the oil.
Abstract:
