Abstract: A cable connector includes a male connector and a female connector. The male connector has a plurality of contacts disposed perimetrically or circumferentially coaxially along major axes of at least one peripheral surface or perimeter of the male connector. The female connector has a plurality of contacts disposed complementarily coaXially along major axes of at least one interior peripheral surface or perimeter of the female connector. Insertion of the male connector into the female connector allows for greater connectivity between cables because more contacts are accommodated coaXially along the connector length than the transverse dimension, as currently seen in the art. Greater bandwidth is therefore accommodated over a greater number of channels.

Abstract: There is described a modular connector receptacle comprising a shield and a modular connector assembly. The shield comprises an electrically-conductive material, and comprises a lumen defining an inner surface which comprises a thread. The modular connector assembly comprises peripheral winglets which engage with the thread of the inner surface of the lumen for screwably housing the modular connector assembly inside the shield. The peripheral winglets are electrically conductive, thus providing a ground. Low-pass filters are provided on a PCB in the modular connector assembly, and the PCB comprising the low-pass filters can have a PCB shield enclosing the PCB and electrically connected to the peripheral winglets for grounding to the shield.

A locking pin engageable through opening on a sidewall is positionable to contact against a shoulder of the cable connector from which the release lever extends to hold the cable connector in the socket until the locking pin is removed. Defective cable connectors lacking an operative release lever can also be held in operative engagement in the socket by the locking pin.

In the method and apparatus, a filter tunes return loss caused by a first external terminal and a second external terminal to compensate for a capacitive load induced by sizes of and a proximity between the first and second external terminals. The filter decouples the tuning of the return loss from tuning a magnitude and a phase of a crosstalk between a first transmission line network and a second transmission line network such that the return loss is tuned with minimal impact on the crosstalk.
