Abstract:
A process for producing a lithographic printing plate by on-press developing a heat-sensitive lithographic printing plate precursor having on a metallic base in this order (1) an ink-receptive layer, (2) a hydrophilic layer containing colloidal particles of an oxide or hydroxide of at least one element, e.g., silicon or aluminum, and (3) a hydrophilic overcoat layer capable of being removed on a printing machine, which includes: rotating a plate cylinder having attached thereto the heat-sensitive lithographic printing plate precursor which has been exposed; subsequently supplying an ink and a dampening water to the plate surface by simultaneously bringing a dampening roll and an inking roll into contact with the plate surface or by bringing a water-metering roll into contact with an inking roll and then bringing the inking roll, which functions also to dampen, into contact with the plate surface; and thereby removing the overcoat layer and the exposed parts of the hydrophilic layer.
Abstract:
A heat mode-applicable image-formation material having high sensitivity and excellent image-forming property, and a novel infrared absorber which can be suitably used in this material. The present invention relates to a substrate carrying thereon an image-formation layer which contains an infrared absorption agent. The agent has at least one surface orientation group in the molecule, and solubility of the image-formation layer in an alkaline aqueous solution is changed by action of radiation in the near-infrared range. Preferable as the infrared absorbing agent is an infrared absorber comprising, in a molecule thereof, a fluorine-containing substituent which have at least 5 fluorine atoms, or a polymethine chain of at least 5 carbon atoms and an alkyl group of at least 8 carbon atoms, said alkyl group being connected to the polymethine chain via any of nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur.
Abstract:
This invention provides a directly imageable planographic printing plate precursor with excellent image reproducibility without requiring any complicated process after irradiation with a laser beam. To solve the above problem, this invention is constituted as describe below. A directly imageable waterless planographic printing plate precursor, in which at least an ink acceptable layer and a silcone rubber layer are laminated in this order on a substrate, wherein when the printing plate precursor is measured by TG-GC/MS in a hellium current at a heating rate of 10° C./min, a decomposition product is generated in a temperature range of 100° C. to 200° C. by 0.001 g/m2 to 1 g/m2 per plate area.

The invention provides a radiation sensitive plate which is imageable by exposure to thermal radiation and comprises (a) a substrate; (b) an imaging layer containing a disperse phase comprising a water insoluble heat softenable component, a continuous phase comprising a component which is soluble or swellable in aqueous medium and a substance capable of strongly absorbing radiation and transferring the energy as heat to the disperse phase to cause at least partial coalescence of the coating; and (c) a topmost covering layer having an optical density which is lower than that of the imaging layer at the wavelength of exposure and contains either a combination of a disperse phase and a continuous phase, or a polymer resin which is soluble or dispersible in aqueous medium.
Abstract:
A positive-working, radiation-sensitive mixture which contains an organic, polymeric binder which is insoluble in water but soluble or at least swellable in aqueous alkaline solution and at least one IR-absorbing dye, is described. A daylight-insensitive recording material which can be provided with an image using IR radiation and has a substrate and a layer comprising the mixture is also disclosed. After imagewise exposure, in particular to IR laser beams, and development with an aqueous alkaline solution, an offset printing plate can be formed therefrom.

A photosensitive composition comprising (a) an ethylenically unsaturated double bond-containing compound, (b) a sensitizing dye and (c) a photopolymerization initiator, wherein the sensitizing dye is a phthalocyanine compound showing the maximum absorption within a range of from 750 to 1,200 nm.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for imaging lithographic plates using laser devices that emit in the near-infrared region, and plates suitable for imaging with the apparatus and methods. Laser output either ablates one or more plate layers or physically transforms a surface layer, in either case resulting in an imagewise pattern of features on the plate. The image features exhibit an affinity for ink or an ink-abhesive fluid that differs from that of unexposed areas.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a heat mode recording material comprising on the same side of a non-conductive support a conductive recording layer and an elastomeric image forming layer being non-conductive characterised in that a peelable polymeric film is provided as an outermost layer on the side of said support containing said elastomeric image forming layer.
