Abstract:
Provided is a chimeric HV1/HV3 hirudin analog useful as an anti-coagulant, exhibiting higher anti-thrombin activity and less tendency to cause bleeding than hirudin HV1. Also provided are a method of producing hirudins and hirudin analogs, as well as other proteins, employing secretion vectors, and transformed microorganisms such as E. coli. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising various hirudins or the chimeric HV1/HV3 hirudin analog of the present invention and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier are also disclosed.

Abstract:
A process for producing a biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride which comprises the step of: heating phthalic anhydride at a temperature of from 135.degree. to 300.degree. C. in the presence of a palladium catalyst thereby to allow the phthalic anhydride to undergo a dimerization reaction. According to the process, biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride can be synthesized by the direct dimerization of phthalic anhydride.
Abstract:
A pickup cartridge composed of a cantilever, a plate-shaped armature and a magnet or magnetic material. The plate-shaped armature is pivotally mounted to the cantilever and stretched backward by a suspension wire through a damper disposed in front of the magnet or magnetic material. A holding means is disposed at the rear of the damper and includes a magnet with north and south poles. Coils are mounted on the armature. The magnetic flux which passes through the coils passing in the direction of the axes of the coils, but not parallel to the direction determined by a line between the north and south poles of said magnet, produces a linear push-pull output.
Abstract:
Proposed are a composite material, wherein non-penetrating pores that are formed in a silicon surface layer are filled up with a metal or the like without leaving any voids by using the plating technique, and a method of producing the composite material. A composite material, which has been packed at a high accuracy, or in other words, in which little voids are left, can be obtained by filling up non-penetrating pores that are formed from a silicon surface (100) substantially with a second metal or an alloy of the second metal (106) with the use of the autocatalytic electroless plating technique wherein a first metal located at the bottom of the non-penetrating pores as described above serves as the starting point.

Proposed are a composite material having a high adhesiveness, wherein non-penetrating pores that are formed in a silicone surface layer are filled up with a metal or the like without leaving any voids by using the plating technique and the silicone surface layer is coated with the metal or the like, and a method of producing the composite material. A composite material, which has a high adhesiveness between a second metal or an alloy of the second metal (106a, 106b) and a silicone surface, can be obtained by filling up non-penetrating pores that are formed in the surface of a silicone substrate (100) substantially with a second metal or an alloy of the second metal (106a) with the use of the autocatalytic electroless plating technique wherein a first metal located at the bottom of the non-penetrating pores as described above serves as the starting point, and coating the surface of the silicone substrate (100) with the second metal (106b).
Abstract:
A priority grade is provided to each of several graphic figures. Respective contour lines of the graphic figures are classified into two groups according to respective locations. Respective contour lines in the two groups are serially selected in a descending order of main scanning coordinate values, and are compared with each other to specify a cross point having the largest coordinate value within a selected pair of cross points. A component of the raster data is generated on the basis of the selected cross point when a priority grade of the selected cross point satisfies a predetermined condition in connection with respective priority grades of the other cross points.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a complex resonance type pickup tone arm in which a damping member is disposed at the middle of the arm to damp low and middle frequency resonances so that the tip of the arm is prevented from being bent down.
