    摘要: A process for simultaneously measuring the velocity of terahertz electromagnetic radiation in a dielectric material sample without prior knowledge of the thickness of the sample and for measuring the thickness of a material sample using terahertz electromagnetic radiation in a material sample without prior knowledge of the velocity of the terahertz electromagnetic radiation in the sample is disclosed and claimed. The process evaluates, in a plurality of locations, the sample for microstructural variations and for thickness variations and maps the microstructural and thickness variations by location. A thin sheet of dielectric material may be used on top of the sample to create a dielectric mismatch. The approximate focal point of the radiation source (transceiver) is initially determined for good measurements.

    摘要: A semi-rigid transparent shield for a jogging stroller provides occupant protection from wind, rain and snow. The device quickly and easily attaches to, and detaches from a jogging stroller. The semi-rigid transparent shield does not crease or wrinkle, maintaining excellent visibility for stroller occupant. The shield also provides protection from air borne road debris caused by passing vehicles. The shield pivots for easy loading and unloading the jogging stroller. The shield is under compression to add resistance to external forces. A sheet assembly attaches to a frame assembly forming a geometric arch adding stability and resistance to external forces. A method to provide protection of a child in a jogging stroller by shielding the child with a material that does not wrinkle or crease is also contemplated. The occupant space is substantially sealed from the outdoor elements. A method of shielding a child in a jogging stroller by flexing a sheet assembly of a semi-rigid material into a frame assembly is also disclosed. Further, the shield is flexed in the mounting hardware.

    摘要: An ad hoc method is provided for synchronizing a wireless network. The method involves broadcasting a first signal including a join message from a first node (FN). The method also involves saving a first timestamps in a memory device internal to the FN after broadcasting the first signal. The method further involves generating a signal including a join response message after receiving the first signal. The join response message is comprised of a second timestamp indicating a local time during which the first signal was received at the second node (SN). The method also includes the step of determining an initial time offset by computing a difference between the first timestamp and the second timestamp. The method further includes the steps of generating a request to send (RTS) message at the FN. The FN uses the initial time offset in conjunction with the RTS message to asynchronously communicate with the SN.

    摘要: A system for managing assets, and facilitating electronic commerce respecting the assets includes a computerized database for storing asset profiles for a plurality of assets. The asset profiles, each include an asset specification and a bid definition. Users of the system may search the database remotely over the Internet for desired assets, and retrieve detailed information, such as maintenance history, and then bid on the asset for purchase, rental, or lease. The system also includes a fantasy fleet feature for conducting “what if” analyses of a simulated fleet containing existing assets and proposed assets.
