Abstract: A heat exchanger for cooling a flow of charge air includes a heat exchanger core that is inserted through an aperture of a housing. A leak-free seal is maintained along the periphery of the aperture by the compression of a gasket between a top plate of the heat exchanger core and a planar bearing surface of the housing. Compression of the gasket is maintained by one or more deformable retaining members that are disposed against the top plate.

Abstract: A heat exchanger has a rectangular-shaped core having a plurality of fluid passages extending in a width direction and air fins interleaved between said fluid passages. The heat exchanger has tanks that define fluid manifolds located at opposite ends of the core and fluidly connected by the plurality of fluid passages between the tanks. The tanks each include an extruded tank section with open ends and end caps that enclose the ends of the extruded tank section. The tanks are assembled and attached to the core such that each of the end caps is located at each of four corners of the rectangular-shaped core.

Abstract: A heating and cooling system includes a heat exchange section to transfer heat between refrigerant and air in both a heating mode and a cooling mode. The heat exchange section includes at least two refrigerant passes. Refrigerant is circuited through the refrigerant passes in the same direction in both the heating mode and the cooling mode, so that the overall flow orientation between the refrigerant passes and the air is a counter-flow orientation in both the heating mode and the cooling mode.

Abstract: A thermal management unit for a vehicle powertrain includes an integrated oil heater, a control valve, and a pressure relief valve. A remote oil cooler is connected to fluid ports of the thermal management unit. Transmission oil is received into the thermal management unit and is directed to one or both of the transmission oil heater and the transmission oil cooler. A portion of the flow of oil can be internally bypassed through the pressure relief valve to maintain the pressure of the oil below a threshold. The flow of oil is directed through the control valve after having been heated and/or cooled, and the proportions of oil being directed through the oil heater and the oil cooler are determined by the temperature of the oil in the control valve.

Abstract: A brazed plate heat exchanger with at least one stack of heat exchanger plates and at least one functional component connected by piping physically and in terms of flow to the stack, for example, a collecting tank, in which case the stack executes a settling movement during brazing. Production is achieved in that the plate heat exchanger with the functional component is produced in a vacuum brazing furnace in a single brazing process, in which at least one structure is contained in the piping that compensates for the settling movement of the plate stack. A corresponding production method is also proposed.

The exemplary fluid can be conducted into an inlet region and/or outlet region of the plate pairs in at least one flow path approximately in the direction of the common edge, and further through at least a first duct approximately in cross current with respect to the exemplary air, and passes further through the plate pairs over the largest heat exchange area of the plate pairs approximately in countercurrent with respect to the air, in order to flow through at least one second duct, approximately in cross current with respect to the exemplary air, and back to the outlet.

Abstract: A rapid warm-up heat exchanger for heating a fluid using exhaust gas includes multiple plate pairs that are joined by braze joints to form a stack. A fluid inlet manifold and a fluid manifold extend through the stack, and each one of the plate pairs defines a tortuous flow path for the fluid that extends between the fluid inlet and fluid outlet manifolds. A housing surrounds the stack, and together the housing and the stack define an exhaust flow path in spaces provided between adjacent plate pairs. A valve element can be provided within the housing in order to selectively direct exhaust flow through the exhaust flow path.

Abstract: A brazed heat exchanger, for example a heat exchanger to be used in an air-conditioning system, preferably as a condenser, includes flat tubes extending between a pair of header tubes and fins arranged between the flat tubes. The components are produced from aluminum alloys, and are brazed together using an AlSi braze alloy. The aluminum alloys have a zinc content of no greater than 0.5% before brazing, and zinc from the aluminum alloys diffuses into the braze joints to result in braze joints having an average zinc content of no greater than 0.1%.

Abstract: The invention relates to an indirect-type air cooler by way of which compressed charge air for an internal-combustion engine is cooled by means of a liquid, wherein the air cooler is constructed from stacked pairs of plates having fins which are disposed therebetween, and the brazed stack is disposed in a housing into which the charge air flows, flows through the fins and exits the housing again. The charge air exchanges heat with the liquid which flows in the plate pairs and which is introducible into the plate pairs via at least one inlet and via inlet-side plate openings which are flush in the stack and is dischargeable via at least one outlet by means of flush outlet-side plate openings. In order to further improve the performance potential of the air cooler, at least one venting element which extends to the exterior through an opening of the housing is connected to a liquid space within the stack.
