A device for interruption-free coating of can bodies with a coating liquid comprises an inlet container for providing the coating liquid to be applied, a pressurized air source for supplying pressurized air, an application nozzle for spraying the coating liquid with an application pressure onto the container body. An intermediary container is provided, which is connected on the inlet side to the inlet container by means of the inlet pipe and which is connected on the outlet side to the application nozzle by means of an outlet pipe.

To manufacture a metal can having a tear-open lid and having a storage space for an object above the tear-open lid, the following procedure is used: first, a top edge of the can which has a smaller diameter than the inside diameter of the can body is formed, wherein a transition region (6) is formed. After the tear-open lid has been attached, this transition region is deep drawn so that the tear-open lid (2) is displaced towards the bottom (5) of the can. This produces the storage space. This procedure allows previously formed tear-open lids to be used, which safely guarantees the imperviousness of the seal of the tear-open lid.

The invention relates to the roll seam welding of container frames wherein a first welding procedure is carried out using welding rolls (10, 11) and subsequently the welded frame is fed to a second welding procedure using welding rolls (20, 21). The welding force of the second welding procedure is adjusted in accordance with a welding parameter for welding quality that has been determined during the first welding procedure. In this manner even sheet metals that are difficult to weld can be welded with better welding quality and the welding quality can be improved.

In a destacking device comprising a stacking magazine (2), the respective lowest sheet of a stack (1) of metal sheets is destacked by way of a suction element (5, 15). This element can be moved upward and downward by way of a drive (6). At the end of the upward movement, the respective lowest metal sheet (4) of the stack (1) is gripped by suction power and pulled from the stack. A second suction element (5′, 15′) is provided, which can be moved upward and downward by way of a drive (6′) and by way of which the lowest sheet (4) of the stack (1) can be gripped at the end of the upward movement. The second suction element is driven so as to be leading with respect to the first suction element, so that the respective lowest sheet (4) of the stack (1) can first be pulled from the stack by the second suction element (5′), and subsequently by the first suction element (5). In this way, it becomes possible to destack thin sheets having a thickness of only 0.12 mm and a square shape without disruption. The stack is held magnetically in the stacking magazine, which facilitates destacking.

A welding installation with a calibration tool is provided in a device for producing container shells. The force exerted by the container shells on the calibration tool is measured and evaluated as information for the overlapping width of the respective container shell. This allows adjusting the calibration tool during configuration of the device and allows the removal of container shells welded with too large or too small overlapping during production of container shells.

The procedure followed for aligning a metal sheet in the correct position for inserting it into a punch press is that the aligned position in the feed direction is adjusted by means of stops. The alignment in the second direction orthogonal to the feed direction is such that the position of the metal sheet in the second direction is determined by a sensor and a control unit, and the deviation of the metal sheet from the predetermined aligned position in the second direction from the control unit is determined. Next, the alignment in the second direction is controlled by means of the gripping arrangement which is provided for the feed of the metal sheet to the punch press by controlling the gripping arrangement in such a way that the deviation is compensated and the metal sheet is aligned correctly.
