摘要: The concentrations of NO and NO.sub.2 in nitrogen oxides contained in an exhaust gas are adjusted to substantially equal mol concentrations, whereupon the exhaust gas is held in contact with a metallic oxide catalyst together with ammonia. Owing to the adjustment of the NO and NO.sub.2 concentrations in the nitrogen oxides, the reaction rate is enhanced, and the nitrogen oxides are reduced even at a low temperature. The adjustment of the concentrations of NO and NO.sub.2 in the nitrogen oxides is done by the oxidation of NO with ozone, the catalytic oxidation of NO with air or oxygen, the addition of nitric acid, the addition of NO or NO.sub.2, etc.

摘要: Disclosed is a catalytic reaction process in which a substance in a liquid reaction system is catalytically reacted with a gaseous substance which is hardly soluble in the liquid reaction system in the presence of a solid catalyst of a non-electroconductive, hydrophobic polymeric material, a part of the surface of which is non-compatible with the liquid reaction system or with the liquid reaction system and a product formed by the catalytic reaction.According to this process, mild reaction conditions can be selected and adopted and separation or recovery of the catalyst can be remarkably facilitated. This catalytic reaction process can be applied to various liquid-gas reactions and can be applied especially advantageously to oxidation and reduction of organic substances and inorganic ions for disposal of waste waters and recovery of valuable substances.

摘要: An apparatus is provided for purifying an exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine, which comprises a first exhaust gas passage including a nitrogen oxide removing catalyst and a three way catalyst, a second exhaust gas passage including the three way catalyst, a gas flow regulator for selectively directing the exhaust gas to the first and second exhaust gas passages, and a control unit which directs the exhaust gas to the first exhaust gas passage (thereby passing exhaust gas first through the nitrogen oxide removing catalyst and thereafter through the three way catalyst) when the temperature of the nitrogen oxide removing catalyst is within a hydrocarbon adsorbing range of temperature thereof while the engine is warming up, and to the second exhaust gas passage (thereby passing the exhaust gas only through the three way catalyst) when the temperature of the nitrogen oxide removing catalyst exceeds the hydrocarbon adsorbing range of temperature thereof.

摘要: Provided is an Mg alloy and a method for producing same able to demonstrate high strength without requiring an expensive rare earth element (RE). The high-strength Mg alloy containing Ca and Zn within a solid solubility limit and the remainder having a chemical composition comprising Mg and unavoidable impurities is characterized in comprising equiaxial crystal particles, there being a segregated area of Ca and Zn along the (c) axis of a Mg hexagonal lattice within the crystal particle, and having a structure in which the segregated area is lined up by Mg3 atomic spacing in the (a) axis of the Mg hexagonal lattice. The method for producing the high-strength Mg alloy is characterized in that Ca and Zn are added to Mg in a compounding amount corresponding to the above composition and, after homogenization heat treating an ingot formed by dissolution and casting, the above structure is formed by subjecting the ingot to hot processing.
