    摘要: A frequency tuning circuit includes a connection for coupling to a signal tap of an element which has a resonant frequency. The tuning circuit contains a controllable-capacitance capacitance array for tuning of a signal frequency of the element. The capacitance array has a multiplicity of capacitances which can be connected to a control connection via a signal. In this case, the capacitance array is coupled to the connection. A control input is used to supply a digital control word. Furthermore, the tuning circuit contains a sigma-delta modulator whose input side is coupled to the control input and whose output side is coupled to the control connection of the capacitance array. This makes it possible to produce a tuning word by means of which the effective resolution of the capacitance array can be increased.

The provision of the first and second bias currents allows compensation for non-linear VCO tuning sensitivity. Methods are also presented for biasing a charge pump, including selectively providing a first current to the charge pump using a first current source, controlling the first current according to a VCO tuning voltage of the phase locked loop system, and providing a substantially constant second current to the charge pump.

    摘要: A low-noise amplifier circuit is specified which has a switchable gain ratio. For this purpose, a parallel circuit comprising a first and a second current path (3, 4) is provided between a radio-frequency signal input and output (1, 2), with the first current path (3) having a transistor which is connected in a common-base circuit for signal amplification, and the second current path (4) having a transistor which is connected in a common-emitter circuit (7) for signal amplification, and has input impedance matching (25, 27). Owing to the good noise characteristics and the good linearity characteristics, the described low-noise amplifier circuit is suitable for use in radio-frequency receivers in which adaptive pre-amplification is required even before a frequency converter, that is to say at the radio-frequency level, because the input signal has a wide dynamic range, such as that in the case of UMTS.
