Abstract: A thin image display device is provided which is free from display defects caused by the deformation of an image display part and can display high brightness and high contrast images. The image display device includes an image display part, a light-transmitting protective part arranged on the image display part, and a cured resin layer interposed between the image display part and the protective part. Abstract: According to a method of manufacturing an image display device of the present invention, a photo-curable resin composition in a liquid state is applied to a surface of a light-transmitting cover member including a light-shielding layer or a surface of the image display member to a thickness greater than that of the light-shielding layer. Then, in this state, the photo-curable resin composition is irradiated with a UV ray to be pre-cured, thereby forming a pre-cured resin layer. Next, the image display member and the light-transmitting cover member are stacked via the pre-cured resin layer and thereafter, the pre-cured resin layer is irradiated with a UV ray to be completely cured, thereby forming a light-transmitting cured resin layer.

Abstract: A method for producing a bonded plate-shaped assembly includes retaining a pair of plate-shaped members facing each other by a pair of retaining base members; charging a photo-curable liquid material between the pair of plate-shaped members facing each other; causing movement of the pair of retaining base members by a retaining base member movement unit to cause the pair of plate-shaped members to draw close to each other to cause wetting spreading of the liquid material between the pair of plate-shaped members; detecting a wetting spreading state of the liquid material by a sensor; and illuminating curing light, in response to the result of detection, to the liquid material wettingly spread to the entire surfaces of the pair of plate-shaped members, to form the bonded plate-shaped assembly made up of the pair of plate-shaped members bonded together.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing an image display device includes the step of forming a cured resin layer by interposing a photo-curable resin composition between a protection member and a display-side panel including an image display unit and a frame member and then photo-curing the photo-curable resin composition, with the photo-curable resin composition being disposed across between the image display unit and the frame member. In the manufacturing method, a high-viscosity resin composition having a viscosity of 3000 mPa·s or more and 12000 mPa·s or less is used as the photo-curable resin composition. Alternatively, after a gap between the image display unit and the frame member is sealed with a sealing film, a photo-curable resin composition is interposed between the display-side panel and the protection member.
