Abstract: One general aspect includes a system to modify an image feed from a second camera of a vehicle, the system includes a memory configured to include one or more executable instructions and a processor configured to execute the executable instructions, where the executable instructions enable the processor to receive a first image feed from a first camera located on the vehicle; monitor one or more image characteristics of the first image feed; receive the second image feed from the second camera located on the vehicle; and based on the monitored one or more image characteristics of the first image feed, modify the second image feed such that one or more image characteristics of the second image feed are substantially similar to the monitored one or more image characteristics of the first image feed.

Abstract: In various embodiments, methods, systems, and vehicles are provided that include obtaining first camera images from a first camera onboard a first vehicle; generating, via one or more computer processors, a first situation awareness graph with respect to objects near the first vehicle, using the first camera images; obtaining second camera images from a second camera of a second device that is in proximity to the first vehicle; generating, via one or more computer processors, a second situation awareness graph with the respect to the objects, using the second camera images; and generating, via one or more computer processor, a global situation awareness graph with respect to the objects, by merging the first situation awareness graph with the second situation awareness graph, using respective first and second weights for the first and second situation awareness graphs.

The first source network packet block includes a first number of source network packets and the second network packet block includes a second number of source network packets. The method further includes encoding the first source network packet block to produce a first encoded network packet block and encoding the second source network packet block to produce a second encoded network packet block. The first encoded network packet block includes a first number of encoded network packets and the second encoded network packet block includes a second number of encoded network packets. Still further, the method includes transmitting the first and second encoded network packet blocks over a wireless network. A wireless device and a vehicle may utilize the video communications method.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for detecting and identifying elongated objects relative to a host vehicle. The method includes detecting objects relative to the host vehicle using a plurality of object detection devices, identifying patterns in detection data that correspond to an elongated object, wherein the detection data includes data fused from at least two of the plurality of object detection devices, determining initial object parameter estimates for the elongated object using each of the plurality of object detection devices, calculating object parameter estimates for the elongated object by fusing the initial object parameter estimates from each of the plurality of object detection devices, and determining an object type classification for the elongated object by fusing the initial object parameter estimates from each of the plurality of object detection devices.

Abstract: A method for detecting a clear path of travel for a vehicle using a current image generated by a camera includes defining an exemplary vanishing point for each of a plurality of sample images. Features within each of the plurality of sample images are identified, the current image generated by the camera is monitored, and features within the current image are identified. The current image is matched to at least one of the sample images based upon the identified features within the current image and the identified features within the plurality of sample images. A vanishing point for the current image is determined based upon the matching and the exemplary vanishing point for each of the matched sample images. The vanishing point for the current image is utilized to define a clear path of travel, and the clear path of travel is utilized to navigate the vehicle.

Abstract: A method for monitoring a vehicle operator can be executed by a controller and includes the following steps: (a) receiving image data of a vehicle operator's head; (b) tracking facial feature points of the vehicle operator based on the image data; (c) creating a 3D model of the vehicle operator's head based on the facial feature points in order to determine a 3D position of the vehicle operator's head; (d) determining a gaze direction of the vehicle operator based on a position of the facial feature points and the 3D model of the vehicle operator's head; (e) determining a gaze vector based on the gaze direction and the 3D position of the vehicle operator's head; and (f) commanding an indicator to activate when the gaze vector is outside a predetermined parameter.

The images are analyzed including determining a clear path upon which a potential road surface can be estimated from other portions of the images that do not indicate a potential road surface, and determining an image of a traffic infrastructure indication. The method further includes determining the content of the traffic infrastructure indication, modifying the clear path based upon the content of the traffic infrastructure indication, and utilizing the modified clear path in navigation of the vehicle.
