Abstract: In some examples, a system including one or more processors may receive sensor data from one or more sensors indicating one or more engine parameters of an engine including a combustion chamber. Based on the sensor data, the system may determine a homogeneity index indicative of a homogeneity of an air-fuel mixture within the combustion chamber. Furthermore, the system may determine an estimated amount of NOx in the exhaust gas based at least in part on the homogeneity index. In addition, based at least partially on the estimated amount of NOx in the exhaust gas, the system may send an instruction to control an engine component.

Abstract: Torque fluctuations caused by misfire and abnormal combustion are prevented appropriately at the time of switching from SI to HCCI, and exhaust of NOx is restricted at the time of switching.Provided is a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine performing a plurality of combustion modes each having a different air-fuel ratio and compression end temperature in a cylinder 7 from each other. In the middle of switching from a first combustion mode to a second combustion mode, an intermediate combustion mode in which the compression end temperature is increased while keeping a different air-fuel ratio from the air-fuel ratio of the first combustion mode and the air-fuel ratio of the second combustion mode is performed. Accordingly, at the time of switching between an operation mode performing SI and an operation mode performing HCCI, a temperature in the cylinder 7 and an air-fuel ratio are controlled appropriately, torque fluctuations caused by misfire and abnormal combustion can be prevented appropriately, and exhaust of NOx can be restricted.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of appropriately controlling compression ratio and ignition timing before the target compression ratio that is set according to humidity is attained. A control device for an internal combustion engine controls the internal combustion engine including a cylinder, humidity detection means for detecting humidity of outside air supplied to the cylinder, a variable compression ratio mechanism for changing a compression ratio of the cylinder, and an ignition device igniting air-fuel mixture in the cylinder, and the control device includes: a compression ratio control unit controlling the variable compression ratio mechanism; and an ignition control unit controlling ignition timing of the ignition device, wherein corresponding characteristics between compression ratio and ignition timing are determined for each humidity according to a predetermined condition of an operation state of the internal combustion engine, the compression ratio control unit determines a target compression ratio of the variable compression ratio mechanism according to the detected humidity, and while the variable compression ratio mechanism changes a compression ratio to the target compression ratio, the ignition control unit controls the ignition device on the basis of corresponding characteristics determined according to the detected humidity.

Abstract: An EGR rate estimation method using an EGR valve opening area involves aggravated EGR rate estimation accuracy as an EGR valve is deteriorated and is unable to satisfy required accuracy when a target EGR rate is high. With a method for correcting a fuel injection amount by a fuel injection valve through estimation of a purge air-fuel ratio on the basis of variations in an air-fuel ratio variable depending on whether purging is performed, the fuel injection correction fails to accommodate the change in the air-fuel ratio when concentration of fuel evaporative emissions adsorbed by an activated carbon of a canister is high, resulting in reduced conversion efficiency of a catalyst. An arrangement includes an introduction port that is disposed in an intake pipe and through which a gas other than fresh air flows in the intake pipe and humidity sensors disposed upstream and downstream, respectively, of the introduction port. The EGR rate or the purge air-fuel ratio in the intake pipe is estimated using detection values of the respective humidity sensors.

Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide an engine control device with which it is possible to minimize decreases in combustion speed even when the EGR rate has been increased. The present invention is an engine control device for: controlling an engine provided with an injector for injecting fuel directly into a cylinder, an ignition device for igniting the injected fuel, and an EGR means capable of recycling combustion gas and varying the EGR rate of the recycling combustion gas; and commanding the injector to perform multiple injections during one cycle, wherein a command is given to perform a control for increasing the injection quantity per compression stroke relative to the total injection quantity in one cycle so that the injection quantity per compression stroke is greater when the EGR rate is high than when the EGR rate is low, and/or a control for increasing the number of injections per compression stroke relative to the total number of injections in one cycle so that the number of injections per compression stroke is greater when the EGR rate is high than when the EGR rate is low.
