Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing thermoplastic molding materials based on acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymers (ABS) having improved surface properties, in particular improved resistance of the surface quality to storage in a warm, humid environment, and having a reduced content of residual monomers. The invention further relates to the use of a fluid bed dryer and/or a flash dryer in the production of thermoplastic ABS molding materials in order to improve the surface quality. The invention further relates to the use of a fluid bed dryer and/or a flash dryer in the production of thermoplastic ABS molding materials having a reduced content of residual monomers. The invention further relates to ABS molding materials that can be produced by means of the method according to the invention and to molded parts (e.g., molded bodies, films, and coatings) that can be produced from the thermoplastic molding materials according to the invention.

Abstract: Thermally conductive polymer (TCP) resin compositions are described, comprising: 50 to 75% matrix polymer (I) comprising styrenic polymers (Γ) such as ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) resins, ASA (acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate) resins and elastomeric block copolymers of the structure (S-(B/S))n-S; and 25 to 50% thermally conductive filler material (II) (D50 0.1 to 200 μm), consisting of carbonyl iron powder (11-1) in mixture with multi wall carbon nanotubes, silicon carbide, diamond, graphite, aluminosilicates and/or boron nitride (II-2); wherein the volume ratio of (ll-1)/(ll-2) is 15:1 to 0.1:1. Shaped articles made thereof can be used for materials with antistatic finish, electrical and electronic housings, toys and helmet inlays.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for the production of graft copolymer compositions which are based on acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA) or acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) graft copolymers. The graft copolymers compositions are obtained by emulsion polymerization and afterwards precipitation, dewatering, drying and optionally cooling of the dried graft copolymer powder, wherein the graft copolymer B powder obtained is mixed with an aeration gas, preferably air and/or nitrogen, wherein the bulk density of the graft copolymer B powder is equal or less than 98.5% of the bulk density of the non-aerated graft copolymer B, during the whole aeration step. The graft copolymer powders show higher powder flowability and less tendency of caking during storage, for example in a silo.

Abstract: The invention relates to thermoplastic moulding materials based on acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, comprising a SAN-polymer matrix and a graft copolymer, structured from an agglomerated butadiene rubber-graft base and a SAN-graft envelope. The agglomerated graft base has a bimodal particle size distribution of a fraction x) of non-agglomerated particles having a d50-value in the range from 80 to 120 nm and a fraction y) of agglomerated particles having a d50-value in the range from 350 to 550 nm and a polydispersity U of less than 0.28. The invention further relates to a method for producing the graft copolymer, wherein an acrylate copolymer having a polydispersity U of less than 0.27 and a d50-value of 100 to 150 nm is used for agglomeration. The invention further relates to the use of thermoplastic moulding materials for producing moulded parts.
