    摘要: A control system for an automatic transmission includes: a clutch adapted to be applied when a forward running range is selected, to transmit the rotation of an engine to the transmission mechanism of a speed change unit and a hydraulic servo for applying/releasing the clutch. A control unit controls oil pressure fed to the hydraulic servo and includes: an application starting pressure detector for detecting application starting pressure at the instant when the application of the clutch is started; an initial application pressure setter for setting an initial application pressure on the basis of the detected application starting pressure; and an oil pressure regulator for adjusting the oil pressure fed to the hydraulic servo, when a change is made to a forward running range, and then gradually raising that oil pressure. The application starting pressure detected by the application starting pressure detector is the value at which the application of the clutch is actually started, so that the initial application pressure can be properly set even if the actual oil pressure fed to the hydraulic servo regardless of the urging force of a return spring or variation in manufacture of the hydraulic control system.

    摘要: A control system for an automatic transmission in a vehicle powertrain including an engine and a fluid coupling for transmitting the rotation of an engine to the transmission, the transmission having a clutch which is applied responsive to selection of a forward running range and a hydraulic servo for applying the clutch responsive to an oil pressure. The control system includes a control unit for controlling the oil pressure to the hydraulic servo; an input torque detector for detecting the input torque to be inputted to the transmission; and a specific state detector for detecting satisfaction of a set of specific starting conditions including: (1) that the forward running range has been selected, (2) that the vehicle is stopped and (3) that the engine is in an idling state. The control unit sets the oil pressure to the hydraulic servo to correspond to the input torque at the instant of detection of satisfaction the specific starting conditions, and includes: a first pressure-reducer for abruptly reducing the oil pressure of the hydraulic servo to a set oil pressure immediately before the release of the clutch is started; and a second pressure-reducer for gradually reducing the oil pressure of the hydraulic servo, which has been reduced to the set oil pressure by the first pressure-reducer.

    摘要: In a multiple speed-change operation for switching between an up-shift operation and a down-shift operation, engine torque control is adapted to an actual change in speed-change state, whereby an abrupt change in rotational speed of the input shaft is prevented. One embodiment relates to a speed-change operation from the second speed to the third speed, wherein the engagement-side hydraulic pressure B4 rises and the release-side hydraulic pressure B5 drops, the rotational speed NT of the input shaft changes from a second speed state toward a third speed state and the engine torque TE is reduced by a predetermined amount TCU. If a command to perform a speed-change operation from the third speed to the second speed is issued during the aforementioned speed-change operation from the second speed to the third speed, control of the hydraulic pressures is switched to the speed-change operation from the third speed to the second speed. If it is detected because of the hydraulic pressure control that the direction of the change &ohgr; in rotational speed of the input shaft has changed toward the second speed, it is determined that the speed-change operation has actually started. Then, the torque reduction operation is suspended, and the torque is gradually restored.

    摘要: A system and method for controlling an automatic transmission in a vehicle drive train including an engine, the automatic transmission and a fluid coupling for transmitting the rotation of the engine to the transmission. The transmission includes a clutch applied when a forward running range is selected; a second one-way clutch which is applied, when the first clutch is applied, to establish a forward 1st speed; and a brake for locking the one-way clutch, when applied, to block the reverse rotation of the output shaft of the transmission. A first hydraulic servo receives a first oil pressure for applying the first clutch and a second hydraulic servo receives a second oil pressure for applying the brake. When a forward running range is selected, with the vehicle stopped, the engine idling and a foot brake engaged, the oil pressure of the first hydraulic servo is lowered from the oil pressure at the 1st speed whereas the oil pressure of the second hydraulic servo is raised to a modulated pressure. The modulated pressure is set to generate, against the reverse force on the vehicle facing up an incline, a resistance corresponding to the forward driving force generated when the engine is idling in 1st speed.

    摘要: An automatic transmission control system providing a neutral control state in which there is no slipping engagement of a first clutch which is engaged upon selection of a forward range and, as a result, the vehicle is not subjected to idling vibration. The fuel consumption reducing effect of the neutral control state is maintained and there is no heating and consequent deterioration of the friction material of the clutch. The control system includes a hydraulic servo for operation of the clutch, an input side speed sensor for detecting the input side speed of a fluid power coupling device connecting the transmission to the output of an engine, an output side speed sensor for detecting the output side speed of the fluid power coupling device, and a controller. The controller includes differential speed calculator, differential speed change detector, a pressure increasing device for increasing the hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic servo by a set pressure when the differential speed has not changed, and a pressure reducing device for reducing the hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic servo by a set pressure when the differential speed has changed.

    摘要: A hydraulic servo includes a cylinder, a piston and a rod. The piston divides the interior space of the cylinder between a closed hydraulic chamber and a back chamber which has an opening to the interior space of an automatic transmission. The rod is slidably mounted in the piston for relative movement through a predetermined distance. A frictional engagement element is engaged by the rod which is extended from one end of the cylinder by applying a hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic chamber. A passage is provided between the piston and the rod which is opened or closed by the relative movement between the piston and rod so that the hydraulic chamber and the back chamber are connected or disconnected. A valving arrangement (“closer”) closes the passage at the end of the return stroke of the piston toward the hydraulic chamber.
