Abstract:
An electronic device (100) and a method for use thereof having an integral camera (102) for taking pictures from multiple sides of the electronic device. The electronic device (100) has a case (101) and a moveable assembly (108) for allowing the camera (102) to capture images from multiple angles with respect to the case depending on the position of the moveable assembly (108). A lens (122) may be used to correct or adjust the image. The camera (102) or electronic device electronics may be used to reverse an image when an odd number of mirrors (206), (208) are used to direct light to the camera (102).
Abstract:
A technique for distributing channel allocation information in a demand access communication system. In a preferred embodiment, for use with Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) type communication, multiple access codes are used that have a defined code repeat period or code epoch. For each such epoch duration, a central controller, such as located at a base station in the case of operating a forward link, determines a schedule of assignment of traffic channels to active terminals for each epoch. For each terminal designated as active during the epoch, an active terminal unit identifier is assigned. For each terminal designated as active during the epoch, the base station assigns a list of active channels for such terminal unit. Prior to the start of each epoch, a channel set up message is sent on one of the forward link channels, such as a paging channel. The channel set up message indicates the terminal unit identifiers and the lists of active channels for epochs of the associated traffic channel(s) that are to follow. At the remote terminal unit, upon receiving a paging channel message, an active terminal identifier is determined from each paging channel message and compared to a previously assigned terminal identifier. On a predetermined subsequent epoch, the indicated active traffic channel, as indicated from the list of active traffic channels indicated by a received paging channel message, are then processed.
Abstract:
A method for operating an access point in a wireless local area network (WLAN) is provided. The access point includes a directional antenna for communicating with a plurality of remote stations, and the directional antenna includes a plurality of antenna patterns. The method includes creating an antenna database by associating between the access point and each remote station a respective measured signal quality corresponding to the plurality of antenna patterns. The respective measured signal qualities are determined by the access point based upon communications with each remote station. The method further includes determining for each remote station a preferred antenna pattern based upon the antenna database, and selecting a remote station and the corresponding preferred antenna pattern to communicate with. It is also determined based upon the antenna database and prior to communicating with the selected remote station, if any non-selected remote stations have the potential of not being aware when such communications actually occurs.
Abstract:
Various techniques are disclosed for authoring and/or presenting packages of multimedia content. In at least one embodiment, the digital multimedia package may include video content, audio content, and text transcription content representing a transcription of the audio content. The video content, audio content, and text transcription content are each maintained in continuous synchronization with each other during video playback, and also as a user selectively navigates to different scenes of the video content. The text transcription content is presented via an interactive Resources Display GUI. Interacting with the Resources Display GUI, a user may cause the displayed text to dynamically scroll to a different portion of the text transcription corresponding to a different scene of the video. In response, the concurrent presentation of video content may automatically and dynamically change to display video content corresponding to the scene associated with the text transcription currently displayed in the Resources Display GUI.
Abstract:
Carbon fibre-reinforced ceramic brake and clutch discs are manufactured by siliconising incompletely densified carbon-carbon fibre preforms produced by only a single chemical vapour infiltration step and then subjecting the siliconsised densified preform to a carbon impregnation step, e.g. by chemical vapour or liquid infiltration. The method substantially reduces processing times and costs compared to conventional chemical vapour infiltration processes, whilst yielding highly effective end products with optimised structural and frictional properties, particularly in terms of stability at high temperatures.
Abstract:
A system for use in a vehicle with a brake pedal and a brake circuit which includes a master cylinder assembly, a sensor assembly configured to generate a pedal position signal indicative of position of the brake pedal, an electronic control unit configured to (i) generate a brake request signal in response to generation of the pedal position signal, and (ii) generate a selector control signal, and a selector valve assembly operable in a first mode and a second mode, the selector valve assembly being moved from the first mode to the second mode in response to generation of the selector control signal, the master cylinder assembly is (i) isolated from fluid communication with the brake circuit when the selector valve assembly is positioned in the first mode, and (ii) in fluid communication with the brake circuit when the selector valve assembly is positioned in the second mode.
Abstract:
There is provided a torque rod bracket assembly for an axle assembly of a motor vehicle. The torque rod bracket assembly has a torque rod mounting bracket engaging plates with a plate connector. The torque rod mounting bracket has a base, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall. A receiver wall located between the first sidewall and the second sidewall has a centrally located recess. Slots are located in the receiver wall between the recess and the sidewalls. Axle mounts mount the torque rod bracket assembly to the axle housing of the axle assembly.
