A check strip is provided as a wall between the two respective chambers. The check strip is attached by its edges to opposite surfaces of the gas bag. The ends of the strip do not extend to the periphery of the gas bag allowing the chambers to communicate with each other and thereby allowing gas to pass from one chamber to the other. When the gas bag is inflated, the check strip has a path running at least partially deviating from a straight line. The edges of the strip may also run in different directions. As a result, the gas bag may be simply subdivided into chambers of different size and shape. Consequently, the shape of the inflated gas bag is influenced.

A nickel-based semi-finished product, for making a high-temperature superconductor, embodied in the form of a strip or flat wire is produced and used as a base for physical-chemical coatings provided with a high-quality intense microstructural orientation. The semi-finished product has an improved granular structure provided with a stable cube texture. A fusion or powder metallurgy process including mechanical alloys makes a semi-finished product including a technically pure Ni or Ni alloy containing an Ag additive in a specified microalloy range. The product is shaped as a strip or flat wire by hot- and cold forming processes with a thickness reduction >50% The product is softened by annealing at 500 to 850° C. and is subsequently quenched. Afterwards, the product is exposed to the 80% cold shaping. A recrystallization annealing treatment is carried out to obtain an entire cubic texture.

A nickel-based semifinished product has a cube recrystallization texture and the semifinished product can e.g. be used as a support for physicochemical coatings having a highly microstructured orientation. Such supports are e.g. suitable as substrates for ceramic coatings such as are used in the field of high-temperature supraconductivity. In this case, the product is used in supraconducting magnets, transformers, motors, tomographs and supraconducting current paths. There is provided a nickel-based semifinished product that has improved performance characteristics when used as a support for physicochemical coatings having a highly microstructured orientation. Especially the semifinished product should have a higher-grade, thermally more stable cube texture while substantially preventing the formation of grain boundary grooving. For this purpose, Ag in the microalloy range is added to the material of the semifinished product, the added Ag being not more than 0.3 atomic percent. The inventive semifinished product is e.g. suitable as a support for physicochemical coatings having a highly microstructured orientation.

The aim of the invention is to provide a metal strip for epitaxial coating with a biaxially textured layer, this metal strip, however, being able to be produced in an uncomplicated manner and having a high tensile strength, low magnetic losses and/or a high electrical conductivity. According to the invention, the metal strip is comprised of Nj, Cu, Ag or alloys thereof all serving as basic material, whereby the one-layer metal strip and, in the instance of a multilayer metal strip, at least one of its layers contains 10 nm to 5 μm large, strength-increasing dispersoids comprised of carbides, borides, oxides and/or nitrides with a volume proportion ranging from 0.1 to 5%. In the instance of a multilayer metal strip, the layers form a composite, and at least one of the layers does not contain any dispersoids and has a biaxial texture. For the production, a starting material is used, which is comprised of Ni, Cu, Ag or of alloys thereof all serving as basic material and which contains 0.2 to 5 atom percent of an additive comprised of oxidizable, nitridable, bondable and/or carbidable elements. A one-layer or a multilayer strip is produced from this starting material by means of deforming methods, whereby for producing the multilayer metal strip, a basic material that does not contain the aforementioned additive is used as one of its layers. Afterwards, the strip is subjected to a recrystallization annealing in order to form a cubical texture. Finally, the strip is subjected to an annealing under an oxygen, nitrogen, boron or carbon partial pressure, which is greater than the equilibrium partial pressure of oxides, nitrides, borides and carbides of the additive elements contained in the alloy, but is less than the equilibrium partial pressure of oxides, nitrides, borides and carbides of the basic elements Ni, Cu and Ag of the strip alloy.

In order to achieve an inexpensive knee restraint which does not require a redesign of the instrument panel configuration when the knee restraint is mounted on the instrument panel, the deformation bars are arranged on that side of the instrument panel remote from the vehicle interior and are supported, by one leg on the rear surface of the instrument panel and another leg on the transverse carrier fixed to the bodywork. The impact-absorption member is a shell-like carrier part positioned on that side of the instrument panel facing the vehicle interior. A cavity is defined and completely filled by an energy-absorbing insert, e.g. consisting of foam, which forms the energy-absorption element.

Accordingly, the press-drawn section of the cross member is provided with at least one groove open at the top in such fashion that a rib or a bar of a bolt-on part can be added from above such that simple pivoting enables a seating surface of the cross member to cooperate with a mounting surface of the bolt-on part in the installed state. Assembly is extremely simple. The cross members are used for the instrument panels of motor vehicles.
