The conductive inner graphite film has a high-resistance portion and a low-resistance portion, and the electrical conductor device has a smaller resistance than that of the high-resistance portion. Upon spot knocking, high voltage is selectively supplied to the electron gun assembly through the electrical conductor device and in operation, through the conductive inner graphite film.

Thereafter, the bulb is subjected to a scanning process of causing the electron gun to emit an electron beam therefrom while deflecting the electron beam. The scanning process is followed by an aging process for the cathode of the electron gun.
