摘要: A tandem brake booster includes a solenoid within a valve body, and the solenoid may be energized to move a first tubular member disposed on the valve body rearward. When an input shaft is driven forward in the inoperative condition of the brake booster, a vacuum valve is closed while an atmosphere valve is opened in the similar manner as occurs in the prior art, thus actuating the tandem brake booster 1. When an input or the force of depression applied to a brake pedal rises to a given value X during the operative condition of the brake booster, the solenoid is energized, whereupon the first tubular member is moved rearward relative to the valve body, and the valve element is also moved rearward. This opens the atmosphere valve which has been closed during the servo balance condition, allowing a further introduction of the atmosphere into variable pressure chambers B, D, enabling a rise in the output even though the input remains unchanged. In this manner, the invention provides a functioning which is equivalent to a brake booster which is arranged to provide a variable servo ratio.

摘要: A brake system contains a safety mechanism which terminates an automatic brake upon detecting that unnecessary braking force is developed as a result of a failure in an automatic brake controller. In the event a braking output is developed when neither a brake pedal nor the automatic brake controller is operated, the safety mechanism determines the occurrence of an abnormality, and interrupts a communication between the master cylinder and the wheel cylinder while decompressing the oil pressure in the wheel cylinder by discharging it into a low pressure accumulator. The safety mechanism allows the automatic braking to be terminated, thus allowing a risk of a collision by a succeeding vehicle to be avoided and allowing a vehicle to continue running.

摘要: A brake booster includes a solenoid disposed within a valve body. When the solenoid is energized under the inoperative condition of the brake booster, a piston associated with the solenoid is moved to its operative position to close a vacuum valve while opening an atmosphere valve. This allows the brake booster to be operated as an automatic brake without depressing a brake pedal. The brake booster also comprises output restriction means which may comprise a spring 55 shown in FIG. 1, for example, whereby as the output increases when the brake booster is operated as an automatic brake, the output restriction means operates to cease an increase in the output. With this arrangement, if the solenoid is energized inadvertently independently from the intent of a driver, the occurrence of a quick braking action is avoided, but a gentle braking action is assured, thus improving the safeguard.

摘要: In a negative pressure boosting device, a movable valve seat is air-tightly and slidably disposed in a concavity of a valve body. The movable valve seat and a valve element compose a vacuum valve. A servo ratio changing device includes a control spring compressed and disposed between the movable valve seat and the valve body. The servo ratio changing device is provided on a valve mechanism (the vacuum valve). During operation, the valve element comes in contact with the movable valve seat. The movable valve seat does not move in a low-input range so that the servo ratio is a relatively large ratio for the normal operation. In a high-input range, the control spring starts to be compressed to move the movable valve seat, thereby changing the servo ratio to a small ratio.

摘要: During a normal brake operation, a brake reaction from a reaction disc is transmitted to a valve plunger through an outer plunger and an inner plunger. During an emergency brake operation, as a valve plunger is driven forward through a given stroke relative to a valve body, a tubular member retracts relative to the valve body. In a servo balance condition, which is reached subsequently, the valve plunger, retracts by an amount corresponding to the retraction of the tubular member, and the outer plunger abuts against a holder. A brake reaction from the reaction disc is transmitted to the valve plunger only through the inner plunger, allowing a booster ratio to be greater and a jumping quantity to be greater than during a normal brake operation. It is possible to increase an output from a brake booster 1 rapidly in immediate response to a quick depression of a brake pedal.

摘要: In a negative pressure booster of the present invention, a threshold line for starting a BA operation at a pedal step-in speed equal to or more than a predetermined speed is set, an inclination of the threshold line is set to a value equal to a servo ratio SR2 smaller than a servo ratio SR1 during a usual braking operation in a low input region (a small pedal step-in region) and is set to a value equal to the servo ratio SR1 during the usual braking operation in a high input region (a large pedal step-in region). That is, the threshold line for starting the BA operation is adjustable between the high input time and the low input time. Further, even when a brake pedal is stepped in at the step-in speed equal to or more than the predetermined speed in spite of a fact that the time when the braking is performed is not an emergency time, the BA operation is not performed and hence, an undesired BA operation can be prevented. In emergency and, at the same time, when the brake pedal is stepped in at the step-in speed equal to or more than the predetermined speed and with a step-in force equal to or more than a predetermined step-in force, the BA operation is started.

摘要: In an automatic brake booster, a sleeve 18 constituting a valve mechanism 15 has a drive portion 50 disposed on the front side, a valve portion 51 forming a second valve seat 19, a mating portion 52 for mating with a valve seat portion when the drive portion is moved forward, and a conical spring 53 disposed between the drive portion and the valve seat portion and used for separating both members from each other. The conical spring is compressed during the normal braking operation so as to make the opening amount of the second valve seat greater than that during the automatic braking operation. Moreover, a plate plunger 40 for transmitting braking counterforce is relatively displaceably provided and a first member 71 and a second member 71 for mutually contacting a reaction disc 41 is also provided, so that the braking counterforce of the first member is transmitted to the sleeve during the automatic braking operation.

摘要: A brake system including a negative pressure booster, a master cylinder of tandem type and an intensifying arrangement. The intensifying arrangement defines an intensifying chamber disposed rearward of a primary piston, a pump for supplying a braking liquid to the intensifying chamber, and a reaction piston and a sleeve for controlling the pressure of the braking liquid which is supplied to the intensifying chamber. As a brake pedal is depressed and the intensifying arrangement is actuated, a sum of an urging force from the negative pressure booster and an urging force from the intensifying arrangement operates the primary piston to develop a master cylinder pressure. The sum is proportional to the input or a force depressing the brake pedal. In this manner, a simple arrangement assures a satisfactory booster function even after the negative pressure booster has reached a full load point or the limit of its assistance or in the event of the failure of a source of a negative pressure for the negative pressure booster.

摘要: There is provided a vehicle brake device that includes hydraulic brake means for generating a hydraulic brake force and regenerative brake means for generating a regenerative brake force and distributes the hydraulic brake force and the regenerative brake force for a driver-requested brake force. The hydraulic brake means includes a pressure reducing valve that reduces hydraulic pressure of wheel cylinders. The vehicle brake device includes hydraulic brake control means for maintaining the pressure reducing valve open while the driver-requested brake force is covered by only the regenerative brake force. The hydraulic brake control means does not open the pressure reducing valve when hydraulic pressure is present in the wheel cylinders.
